Everybody Knows Reviews
Everybody Knows requires much patience to get through, as well as some very melodramatic scenes to endure, but the film never even rewards its audience for all the wait.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Aug 9, 2024
Everybody Knows is a feature film by Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, known for films such as The Separation and The Traveler, who today places us in a reflection on the globalized world, interpersonal relationships, secrets and class conflicts.
| Original Score: 8/10 | Dec 28, 2023
One of Farhadi's major skills as a writer is to disguise his films' major themes within naturalistic dialogue, so that what sounds like casual conversation soon reveals what Farhadi is really trying to say.
| Original Score: 6/10 | Jun 13, 2022
Lacking an action-film orientation or neatly-wrapped ending, Farhadi and his actors play their story sensitively and believably, leaving much to ponder.

The incredible suspense builds up and puts too much weight into the final act of the film, which ends up being somewhat disappointing. [Full review in Spanish]

Like the great Canadian short story writer Alice Munro, Asghar Farhadi forms intricate, mysterious narratives around a complex weave of characters, whose relation to one another takes you some time to sort out.
| Original Score: 7.7/10 | Aug 11, 2020
It can feel predestined at times, but Farhadi so earnestly downplays most canards, setting them off with fractal-like momentum.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Jul 27, 2020
There is plenty to capture here, but it is a shame the story mechanics were purely something to hang these characters off, rather than harmonising with them.

While far from a dud, this is still some way below Fahardi's usual high standards.
| Original Score: 6/10 | Feb 6, 2020
The film, therefore, is contingent upon the performances of its secondary members who, fortunately, carry out a splendid joint work complementing those three great figures. [Full review in Spanish]

[T]his 'psychological thriller' falters after an initially promising start.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Nov 7, 2019
A much better film would have drawn out the class distinctions that are at the heart of this story.

Its thrills are intense, yet subtle, refraining from bombast, but still delivering a good wallop.

Farhadi demonstrates once again human nature is the greatest puzzle of all.

Atmospheric and evocative... It's not the best of Farhadi, but even a lesser Farhadi is better than most films.

There is something about a story which peels back the layers so gently that really gets under the skin and when it's the secrets and lies of a whodunit - this is even more delectable.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Aug 23, 2019
The score is reserved only for the party scenes - it is a way to enhance the work of the actors, all impeccable. [Full Review in Spanish]

The family gathering, that creaky nest of vipers, proves patchy ground for writer-director Asghar Farhadi and his gamely fired-up cast.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jun 23, 2019
The most appreciated in this filmmaker is his impeccable handling of intimate atmospheres and his scenic control. [Full Review in Spanish]

Everybody Knows is a gorgeous film that features some truly wonderful moments of interpersonal connection, tucked as they are in between a stilted storyline.
