Excess Baggage Reviews
This is one of my favourite-ever movies. I have watched it so many times and every time I find something else to LOVE. It's ridiculous that the rating is so low on here! Even the bit characters are great...the music...and Benicio is at his absolute best (well, maybe Traffic is equal)! It's kind of perfect.
It is really hard to pull for any of these people.
One of those quirky hit-or-miss late '90s comedies (girl fakes her own kidnapping, winds up mistakenly abducted when her car is stolen) that has two things going for it: Benicio del Toro's squirrely car thief and Christopher Walken's menacing "Uncle Ray." I wished the film had just focused on the two of them instead. The rest of the film is forgettable.
i rented the movie when i was 12. i did so because i was a fan Alicia Silverstone. Clueless was still a hit with my age demographic at the time. The movie was mildly entertaining, but the story was kinda ridiculous. i remember thinking Benicio was really sexy and funny. i haven't seen it since then. i plan to give it another go.. . for old time's sake, you know? 1997 was a very fun year for me. EDIT: Okay. i just watched it again after 24 years, and i have to give it an additional half star. The story is ridiculous, but it's cute.
I was going to give this shrill, unpleasent excuse for a comedy the lowest possable rating, but reconsidered when I remembered that there is exactly one funny moment in it. One funny moment deserves exactly one extra half star. I am firm but fair.
A poorly written comedy that didn't do justice to any of its talented actors. And for a comedy there was no humour to be found.
Very strange kind of romantic comedy. Who thought these two were av appropriate pair...? Well, it's okay. Not bad, but nothing special.
Boring, terrible... Overall not good. Best thing about this flick is Christopher Walken.
The film has its moments but overall its very stupid in its approach to create a great entertaining value in its story, I found this film to be very annoying in its style of comedy and romance between two thief's who start falling for each other as the story develops and I especially didn't like the crime value and the narrative style of the film which felt childish and to over the top and almost every scene in this film shows the actors trying to be tough when there actually quite weak and damaging the story by the unrealistic qualities the film has to give. Its very slow over hyped and the action is very slow and the film just delivers nothing to be excited about.
Dumb but I guess it's supposed to be just a stupid little comedy. Not really that interesting though.
I actually liked this movie a lot.
I'm not trying to be a party-pooper for all you Alicia fans , but this movie was utter rubbish! The plot is so thin that if it got any thinner it would cease to exist. Also , im sorry to say this but where were the acting skills? No disrespect to the cast as , unquestionably they are all good at what they do , but the response from the cast to this film seemed to be non-existent! To summarise , a great idea for a movie but the end result is appalling. Oh and by the way , is it just me or am i the only person who could'nt understand a word of what Benicio Del Toro was saying throughout the entire film?
Really fun & smart built movie. Actors were really great and professional, and the director did a great job.
