Igotboomed O 40 minutes in and it鈥檚..alright. It鈥檚 not amazing or something you would watch twice. Very!! slow movie. Only now 40 minutes in are they getting slowly started & basically continuing from P1. There is a lot of boring scenes though, and this years love? story, just didn鈥檛 care much for it. This one had more CGIy looking kill scenes this time around. It is also more PG Horror too if that makes sense. Spoiler sort of: 60 minutes in and there has only been two kills, one you didn鈥檛 even see! I would recommend it, but as during the day, I wouldn鈥檛 waste a Friday night for it! Leigh Janiak's second film in the Fear Street trilogy is a way better film than the first one. Going throwback mode with the way the film is made, the film feels more like a classic slasher flick. With less homages than the previous film, this instalment feels more organic and true to the genre. Its super violent and actually relentless once it gets to the point of the film where the killer is on the loose. Leigh also does a great job of exploring more of the lore that the story is going for. It makes for more of an interesting watch and makes you want to anticipate how the trilogy ends. The acting is way better in this film. The previous film felt like every character was a caricature of slasher genre tropes. Though there are some caricatures in this film, they feel more fleshed out and realized. The horror aspect of this film is really well done as well. Its easy to fall into the trap of making a Friday The 13th rehash, but the film feels more than that. One thing that I also appreciated is showing how the town of Shadyside's residences are affected by the negative connotations that town gets with all of its murders and bad energy. It helps makes you care a little more for the characters and the plight they go through. A great film which leads to a possibly exciting ending!
