Fire Birds Reviews
The film was made a year too early. It would've been a so much better AH-64 Apache movie if it was set on 1991 Gulf War.
Such a fun film! Nicolas Cage out acting the rest of the cast and script as usual to provide high octane, high flying fun!
This war movie was pretty good. Nicolas Cage, Tommy Lee Jones, Sean Young, Dale Dye, and the rest of the cast did a pretty good job in this movie. The plot of the movie was action-packed, a little dramatic, and kind of entertaining. It's about fighting under pressure and overcoming it defeat the enemy. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you might enjoy it. That's my opinion.
Aircrafts go pew pew. End of story.
This movie is great despite of what other shitty comment Fuck outta here with the bull shit It deserves to thumbs up
this is a decent movie however i do think it is trying to be top gun in many ways just with ah-64 helicopter pilots instead of f-14 pilots. Tommy Lee Jones's character was one of the only things i enjoyed from this movie one again he nails his character. Sean young's character is just plane out boring being your generic love interest she has little to nothing at the end battle other than taking out a few jets and thats it and no i'm not hating on this movie because it is a ripoff of top gun i disliked Kelly Mc Gillis's character from top gun due to the same reasons i stated she has nothing to do with the plot other than being a love interest of the main character. If you are looking for a generic action movie about aviation fire birds is worth a watch however if you are looking for a movie with more military accuracy top gun would be my first choice however that is my opinion.
I loved this movie as a kid, I have not seen it in years but would love to get my hands on it to relive some good memories.
Helicopters need the Top Gun treatment, and this is it. this film is to attack helicopters what Topgun is to fast jets. if you like fast action war films then this is a must see.
I loved this movie when I was younger, and liked it now that I have seen it again. Back then I thought Nicolas Cage's character was so cool, now he is still kinda cool but man is there way too much overacting from Cage and pretty much everybody else, well except for Sean Young, who kinda doesn't act, she is just there, like a cardboard cut out of her with a tape player saying her lines would have be just as real, maybe even better. Thankfully Tommy Lee Jones is great, and I have used the Full Tilt Boogie line a bunch of times. So, decent movie, cool helicopters and Tommy Lee Jones is just too awesome for his own good. 2.5 Beards Out Of 5
This is quite possibly the worst movie ever made. Not just about the US Army, I'm talking about in the history of movies. Tommy Lee Jones should bury his head in shame that he participated in this disaster.
I feel ridiculous having watched this good-for-nothing film. No purpose of the story, no character-buildup, no utilization of resources, although Bush Sr. might have approved of military resource-help for friendly countries to fight drug-cartels. This film's subject is extracted out of the speech by the Bush Sr. which can be seen in the opening of the film, on the said thing the film was probably based to show US involvement. A ridiculous film to end with bombarding of the goon-element who earlier in the film shot down couple of friends of Cage.
A very short and predictable film. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it. I thought the film had too much build up and not enough pay off. The whole film is obvious to what will happen but you still like seeing it. Characters were good and I liked the banter between Cage and Jones. Jones' subplot was a good one. With an impressive, albeit short, finale and one that will make audiences smile. If you're in need of some solid if forgettable and predictable entertainment, Fire Birds has you covered. It's a pleasant film, it's not going to win any Oscars or anything.
The quotation on the front of the DVD says it all: "If you enjoyed Top Gun, you'll have a great time". That's clearly movie-promotion-talk for "This film is trying to be Top Gun but it's not as good, or good at all". It's just all so typical and bleeeugh, it's been done many, many times before and this isn't one of the times that it's been done well. It's the kind of script that you could write during a long session on the toilet. You should watch this one while on the toilet actually- at least then you aren't wasting time watching it while you could be outside or something. (I dunno, just avoid it okay.) It's got that entirely-unintentional comedic 80's vibe (even if it is 1990) and it's just so badly written that we almost have a comedy here. It's not enough though, it's mostly painfully bad as opposed to pleasantly bad. The performances are all typical really- Jones does nothing memorable and I genuinely believe Cage was treating this film as a joke more than anything else. It could almost be similar to Con Air in that sense but Con Air is awesome (It just is okay!) whereas this is not. It's really not. I knew this would be baaddd but on my quest to see all of Nicolas Cage's films I eventually had to watch this one sometime. It's certainly a low-point of my Cage experience- thank God it has some comedy in it. "I'd love to nail it." - Whoever Nicolas Cage plays in this bad, bad movie. "You've still got your brains in your cockpit" - Whoever Young plays in this bad, bad movie. Also, Tommy Lee Jones eats a choc-ice in one scene. For some reason that's hilarious. There are plenty of other comedy moments, especially if you are a fan of Cage. Okay, one more you ask? Cage with panties covering his face while driving a truck and being shouted at by Tommy Lee Jones about how smooth a babies' bottom is. You've had your fun now so don't bother watching the film. I reward it for it's comedy but everything else about it is badddd. I've played Sega Master System helicopter games that are better in every single area than this movie. There's no Nic Cage in them though I guess. So yeah, get a Master System and find a helicopter game and play it while listening to the Top Gun soundtrack with the lights out instead of watching this- obviously an awesome plan. WELCOME TO THE DANGER ZONE. DANGER ZONE. *sigh* I miss the 80s, even if I wasn't born till after them.
Yeah, it's awful. I own it because it's necessary for a complete Tommy Lee Jones collection. Not too many other redeeming factors.
