Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter Reviews
There's nothing groundbreaking, but many agree it does (slightly) raise the bar on the previous two sequels at least.

With Jason's highlight kills, extremely proficient filmmaking, and the most enjoyable side-characters of the series, Part IV ranks among the most enjoyable slashers of all time.
| Original Score: 8/10 | Oct 2, 2022
The Final Chapter has the added bonus of providing a truly nightmarish climax that Is by far the best facet of any of the sequels to date.

The first of the sequels that tries to do something, anything, different.

The plot is as negligible as ever, the sex-obsessed teenagers interchangeable and the grisly murders all twists on the old favourites.

This time out, as if it mattered, the crazed Jason once again stomps through the woods of a lonely summer camp, carving up all the nubile young camp counselors. As usual, the open ending prepares blood-lustful viewers for another sequel.

Today's moral: As long as there's a buck in it, evil never dies.

Nobody under 13 should be allowed to see this movie. Nobody over 13 should want to.

There's little doubt that Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter marks the nadir of the series up to this point...
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Apr 3, 2015
A brutal but entertaining installment for the man behind the mask...

Considering how long these movies kept going and how many of them there were, it's strange that only this one had everything in its proper place.

The final confrontation between Tommy and Jason is quite gorgeous, at least in the horror movie term of gore-geous.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jan 11, 2010
Watching it again today, it works oddly well, almost like a John Hughes movie that got lost and wandered into slasher territory.

This one certainly felt as if it properly closed out the Friday the 13th series before it devolved into unadulterated camp.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Jun 12, 2009
Opening line of film -- 'I don't want to scare anyone, but Jason is still out there' -- is film's only laugh.

Not so venally stupid as its predecessor.
