Friends With Kids Reviews
There is no substitute for important things to communicate. Good looks, attractive locations and a handful of brittle, clever lines have never been enough.

More than the trite set-up, Friends with Kids' biggest travesty is a criminal waste of professional funny people like Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph.

Sharp enough to appreciate, with Westfeldt and Adam Scott anchoring a really good cast.

Friends with Kids is simply not very funny. The few laughs there are come from the bickering O'Dowd and Rudolph, but even their shtick is clichéd and obvious.

With Friends with Kids, [Director Jennifer] Westfeldt has given us -- for the first time in a while -- a romantic comedy for adults.
| Original Score: 3.5/4 | Jan 4, 2019
All in all, this is a smart, charming and endearing film.
| Original Score: 8/10 | Nov 21, 2018
Blending Jennifer Westfeldt's talky, observational style with the kind of irreverent humour that helped Bridesmaids bridge the gender divide, Friends With Kids explores love, marriage and child-rearing with gusto and wit.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Aug 24, 2018
A strong support cast (featuring Bridesmaids trio Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Chris O'Dowd) are just as amusing as the leads.

Blends the disparate tones---dirty, sweet, funny and flailing---into a largely compelling, wholly watchable modern movie.

There is so much wrong with the film Friends with Kids that it's actually hard to choose just one thing.
| Aug 21, 2017
Westfeldt has shackled herself to such a lame gimmick that there's scarcely room to breathe.

Surprisingly funny and wickedly smart, this romantic dramedy soars.
| Original Score: 5.0/5 | Jun 30, 2013
As she did with her first script, the gender-bending 'Kissing Jessica Stein,' Westfeldt goes for something radical and winds up pulling her punches when things start getting interesting.

Trying to figure what is the most offensive thing about this accidental mashup of 70s Woody Allen and Sex and the City...

Movies of this genre normally want you to root for the couple to end up together. All this one had me doing was hoping that someone would smack them upside the head and talk some sense into them.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Sep 16, 2012
Ultimately, Friends With Kids is an unconventional family drama that uses conventional romantic comedy clichs to make its point.
| Original Score: 8/10 | Sep 15, 2012
I'd rather have my head stuck in a vise than be forced to sit through another viewing.

Friends with Kids is funny and likable and while the dialogue is often bawdy and sexually frank, its elements are completely fairytale, including a climax involving a cross-town dash.
