On the run from a bank robbery that left several police officers dead, Seth Gecko (George Clooney) and his paranoid, loose-cannon brother, Richard (Quentin Tarantino), hightail it to the Mexican border. Kidnapping preacher Jacob Fuller (Harvey Keitel) and his kids, the criminals sneak across the border in the family's RV and hole up in a topless bar. Unfortunately, the bar also happens to be home base for a gang of vampires, and the brothers and their hostages have to fight their way out.

Critics Consensus

A pulpy crime drama/vampire film hybrid, From Dusk Till Dawn is an uneven but often deliriously enjoyable B-movie.

Robert D Bring back more like this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/10/24 Full Review Jithin K Pretty much a sleazy B-movie with more budget. There are a few things to like about this movie, but there's too much to hate about it too. Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez do show some of their signatures here, but this is easily their worst I've seen yet. This could've been a lot more fun if the film were more balanced. A lot of the mayhem became boring, and the tension building in the first hour just felt unnecessary as well as questionable in a lot of ways. I didn't really care if anyone survived at the end. Clooney and Keitel looked like they were acting in a better movie than the rest of the actors. Even though there was some stuff to enjoy, overall, this has been a disappointing watch. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/25 Full Review Antonio J R A clasic dark humor vampire movies with fast action and paces. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/20/25 Full Review Gerry J George clooney is not great in this movie. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/06/25 Full Review Audience Member This is Tarantino’s worst movie. Do not watch. Pretend it didn’t happen. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/25 Full Review Neil M A Wild, Genre-Shifting Classic That Just Works Some films shouldn’t work, but From Dusk Till Dawn leans so hard into its madness that it becomes iconic. The first half? A tense, sharp-witted crime thriller with Clooney at his absolute coolest. The second half? A vampire bloodbath that throws logic out the window and dares you not to enjoy it. ✔ Clooney’s breakout role? Instant legend. ✔ Tarantino as a deeply unsettling sociopath? Awkward but perfect. ✔ That genre shift? Unexpected but incredible. ✔ Salma Hayek, vampire madness, and over-the-top action? Perfection. ❌ If you can’t embrace the shift, it might lose you. ✔️ Verdict: From Dusk Till Dawn is the ultimate “go with it” movie—and if you do, it’s one of the most fun and unpredictable cult classics ever made. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/01/25 Full Review Read all reviews
