The Good Girl Reviews
The Good Girl is not great. Unfortunately a loaded cast with an interesting idea falls terribly flat. To be honest, the dialogue’s a bit pathetic. The writers were overconfident thinking their idea was so good that they could write anything and it’d sound interesting. This is honestly a very disappointing watch
An interesting film. Well shot cinematography and story telling. Fascinating to see the character go through a slew of events only to end right where things began, but the only difference is a seemingly new life although the question is, did anything really change? Such dramatic events and movement for things to somewhat remain the same. What an interesting and insightful look into life.
A really different kind of role for Jennifer Aniston. John C. Reilly and Jake Gyllenhaal were great too. Mike White’s script was involving as well. Worth a watch!
very good movie like it
It was a really good movie. Very instructive. I really liked it. I will watch it again later. Also, I really like the small details of the movie.
The film is a tour de force for Aniston. She was terrific in a dramatic part. I'll admit, I didn't know she had it in her.
This film was good and Jennifer is a great actress. All of the acting was great as well as the story. Southern people live differently and this is a tale of just being dumb at times.
Based on the favorable review I expected much better. It's pretty disappointing and I'd never want to watch it again.
very relevent in these times, woman dont have to be accountable, lot of simps around
Nothing like a cheating wife . John didn’t seem that bad, he’s just dumb 😩. I love Jake more than mostly everyone, but I didn’t particularly find him that charming in this movie. Aniston should feel ashamed of herself ! 2.0
The characters weren't likable or interesting enough to want to spend time with.
You know what it, it's one of those depressing stories set in South US. It's about morality and hypocrisy and the need for people to be understood and escape. The story was not something special but I loved seeing Jennifer Aniston in something different and her unexpected chemistry with Jake Gyllenhal
The Good Girl is an effective portrait of a life in stasis - of the power of inertia to arrest development in a dead-end existence. The film's tone, crafted and nurtured by director Miguel Arteta and screenwriter Mike White is grim, in part because the real world is full of people like Justine - individuals whose lives lack purpose and who long for the kind of freedom they don't have the courage to pursue. The acting by everyone from John C Reilly and Jake Gyllenhaal to especially Jennifer Aniston is really good and one reason this is a great film to watch. The Good Girl is not mainstream fare. It does not have happy ending (instead, it has a fitting one) and ignores the traditional formulas. Instead, The Good Girl offers nothing more spectacular than a character study.
Jennifer and Jake in their best roles. Philosophical yet funny. A touching look at the loneliness that everyone feels sometimes, and the road not taken vs the comfort of the familiar, even when what's familiar is mediocre. One of my favorite indie movies.
or are they just keeping quiet like you.. The Good Girl Pitching it up for around 90 minutes; the track is short and the pace is on, resulting onto an entertaining experience but is it satisfying? Well that's a question one will take it to its grave for there is too much going on to digest and accept even if it is barred within logic and genuine reasoning. Miguel Arteta doesn't quite gets the depiction right which leads to the most confused experience ever for on the other hand Mike White's screenplay is fast and gripping. On performance level, there isn't much to complaint from Jennifer Aniston, John C. Reilly and Jake Gyllenhaal but there surely isn't anything inspiring or impressive too. The Good Girl lacks a character development and a better projection of it and due to this the reasoning; no matter how much circumstantial and concrete, the feature just doesn't fit for it doesn't help connecting the audience to them.
When I look for reviews I'd much rather see the ratings of those who actually bought a ticket than those critics who are paid for theirs! As there is usually a big difference!
What a GOOD movie ... IF you can get past the first slow, depressing 20-minutes. The casting is spot on and the performances pitch perfect, especially Aniston. The script is so good it turns this film into an observationally scary movie with twists of consequences. The Aud Reviews are looking for "Friends." Nope, not this. And maybe that's just how good Aniston & Gylly really are ...
Sad, well-acted, but not amazing
Despite kind of looking like a comedy on the outset, it's actually a pretty sobering depressing look at small town life, and the seemingly impossible task of ever trying to get out of your mundane life and do anything exciting, yet at the risk of losing what somewhat good life you already have, it's a very quiet film, none of the actors really go too over the top in their performances, there are still some funny moments despite the drama, mainly from nelson and deschanel, also the darkest thing prolly from writer mike white and director miguel arteta who usually do lighter stuff
