Goodnight Mommy Reviews
A film that relies on the psychological aspects of the horror genre rather than cheap jump scares, and as a result, it’s far more effective in the long term.

... an unsettling horror film built on scars (physical and psychological) that upset the connection between a mother (Susanne Wuest) and her sons, adolescent twins named Lukas and Elias played by real-life twin brothers Lukas Schwarz and Elias Schwarz.

Goodnight Mommy is the best example of twin terror to come along in years and announces Fiala and Severin as an auteur duo in the making.

I was fascinated with the set up and the interplay between identity and the multiple forms of duality. In this case, however, the journey was much more rewarding than the destination.

The movie isn't even that clever at hiding what it apparently feels is a brilliant twist ... a film with 'The Creepiest Trailer Ever' should at least attempt to live up to this hype, not show its hand right after the cards are dealt.

Goodnight Mommy might suffer from a suggestivity that makes it quite predictable, but it nevertheless accomplishes its mission of being a compelling twisted thriller with splashes of mystic and horror.

Ripped straight from the pages of your therapist's notebook, Goodnight Mommy is a thoroughly terrifying fairy tale with a killer twist.

Goodnight Mommy is increasingly unnerving and meant to completely throw off even the most die-hard horror fan, but the film is less horror than it is a psychological trip through clues, truths, lies, fantasy and reality.

Goodnight Mommy might be a flawed film, but it remains an original and refreshing take on a tired genre. Its fantastic production values make it a highly enjoyable watch.

It could've had a much more satisfying ending...I can see why people like it, and it's by no means a horrible movie...when it comes down to it, I didn't feel like the direction made sense in the second half...

Goodnight Mommy works because it is a very tight, solid film.

The acting was great, it had a lot of visual interest, but they gave away the twist too early. Knowing the twist at the beginning of an hour and a half long film makes it feel incredibly dull.

Directors Franz (Seidl's wife and a collaborator on his scripts) and Fiala have basically made arthouse torture porn.

Child actors can make or break a film, and the Schwarz twins do a great job of carrying the film.

This is a very effective psychological horror film, with supernatural hints.

Goodnight Mommy indulges in abstract horror, containing many lucid dream sequences depicting unnatural behavior, and striking imagery meant to keep viewers unsure of what is actually going on before the big third act reveal
