Though Goofy always means well, his amiable cluelessness and klutzy pratfalls regularly embarrass his awkward adolescent son, Max. When Max's lighthearted prank on his high-school principal finally gets his longtime crush, Roxanne, to notice him, he asks her on a date. Max's trouble at school convinces Goofy that he and the boy need to bond over a cross-country fishing trip like the one he took with his dad when he was Max's age, which throws a kink in his son's plans to impress Roxanne.

A Goofy Movie offers enough of its titular ingredient to satisfy younger viewers, even if most parents will agree that this beloved character deserves better.

Andy Grieser Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com This movie is excellent for the little ones up through the preteen years. They'll like the slapstick, the wild and wacky antics of a cartoon cross-country adventure and Max's quest to be cool at school. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 2, 2025 Full Review Bill Hoffmann New York Post "A Goofy Movie" looks slapped together with about as much care as a kid takes making mud pies at the beach. The Script is abysmal and the animation just barely adequate. Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Leslie Felperin Sight & Sound Although A Goofy Movie resurrects a major character of the Disney short cartoons of the 30s-50s - the gormless canine star, Goofy - viewers expecting a nostalgic recreation of the old-fashioned, small-town world he once lived in are in for a shock. Apr 1, 2025 Full Review Bill DuPre News & Observer (Raleigh, NC) ...the characters in "A Goofy Movie," for all their cartoonish ways, are a lot like you and me. And that's what gives the movie its depth and resonance. Apr 2, 2025 Full Review Tony Lofaro Ottawa Citizen Children will love the animation and music, and parents can relate to some of the positive messages conveyed in the film. Welcome to the '90s, Goofy. You fit right in. Rated: 3/5 Apr 2, 2025 Full Review Dennis King Tulsa World The movie might be "Goofy," but like its stumbling, good-natured namesake, it has its heart in the right place. Kevin G A Goofy Movie is a Masterpiece of Kevin Lima, and Goofy is my favorite Disney character. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/19/25 Full Review Polly S Coming up on its 30th anniversary, it's no wonder A Goofy Movie is a suburban cult classic, even though it was handled by one of Disney's television production crews. Longtime master of animated "Mickey Mouse" slapstick, Goofy, is portrayed lovingly as a single father to his awkward son who's embarrassed to be associated with him. Both angles are something anyone can relate to and find comfort in, good or bad relationship with a parental figure. After an intense confrontation where Goofy is immensely disappointed following the map debacle, the two find common ground in such a realistic way, reflecting upon an unfortunate situation turned bonding experience. Bill Famer voicing Goofy as a human being when the time calls, Powerline's 80s and 90s star status, and a genuinely sweet romance between Max and Roxanne. A girl who absolutely notices and likes him, even though he still feels the need to prove himself. In the years following its debut, it deserves to be the big deal it became in Disney's classic library. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/19/25 Full Review Laura D I loved this movie as a kid growing up. I would watch it and rewatch it . Max was my first crush back then. The songs are catchy and up beat and the characters are funny and colorful.Be careful if you don't want your kids watching a movie with a little adult humor . Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/25 Full Review Tamsie L From the amazing soundtrack to the heartfelt message and quotable moments. This is an all time classic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/11/25 Full Review Caysen A a cult classic that is a damn good movie for when your tired of modern Disney. this movie deserves better. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/10/25 Full Review Anthony A Simply put…a underrated gem! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/09/25 Full Review Read all reviews
