Jay Boyar Orlando Sentinel You're reminded of what it was like, as a child, to trust in wishing wells and, without thinking very much about it, switch from walking along to skipping. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 7, 2023 Full Review Wesley Lovell Cinema Sight “Goonies” is an entertaining film and has a cult following of teens from the ’80s, who remember the film well. Adults will enjoy watching it with their children, since it’s a more subdued family film than what comes out today. Rated: 3/4 Dec 25, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

John O The Goonies is 1 of the best movies ever made, I remember seeing in the theatre, I was 12 years when it came out, I went with my family and my family loved the movie, and I remember at the end, the audience clapping. I have wanted a sequel ever since it came out, and I am beyond excited that they are doing a sequel, and I really wish the original cast would be in the movie. I’m really glad they’re not doing a reboot, but that it’s going to be an actual sequel to the original because many reboots do not do well. and of course, everybody loves Cyndi Lauper’s The Goonies ‘R’ Good enough Theme song & her Music Video (Watch it on YouTube) it’s a 2 part music video & she used the cast from the movie for the music video & I really hope they ask her to do a new song for the sequel Also I am surprised that the score on here for the movie isn’t a solid 10 & it should be 10 across the board. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/25/25 Full Review Hosain A “Goonies never say die!” The Goonies is a treasure map of childhood fantasy — a rambunctious, heart-pounding adventure carved straight from the imagination of every kid who ever dreamed of pirate ships, booby traps, and saving the neighborhood with their best friends by their side. Directed by Richard Donner and powered by a story from Steven Spielberg, it’s a film soaked in ‘80s magic, where every rain-soaked tunnel, skeleton key, and underground cavern feels like a rite of passage. The pacing is breathless, the dialogue chaotic and charming, and the spirit? Unstoppable. The young cast is pitch-perfect, each kid memorable and overflowing with personality. Sean Astin’s Mikey is all heart and hope, while Corey Feldman’s Mouth steals every scene with his sass. And then there’s Sloth — a misunderstood giant with a soul bigger than any treasure chest. Sure, it’s loud. It’s messy. The logic doesn’t always hold up. But The Goonies doesn’t aim for perfection — it aims for wonder. And it hits it like a cannon blast. This isn’t just a movie. It’s a memory. A time capsule of untamed youth, loyal friendship, and the belief that, with a little courage, the map in your hand might actually lead somewhere extraordinary. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/12/25 Full Review Daniel E An absolute childhood classic, The Goonies is pure adventure, heart, and nostalgia wrapped in one. Every moment—from the thrilling treasure hunt to the unforgettable friendships—feels like magic, no matter how many times I watch it. Sure, it has its flaws, but that only adds to its charm. The film balances kid-friendly fun with surprisingly mature themes, touching on loss, danger, and even moments of real darkness (the Fratellis, suicide, Sloth’s heart breaking backstory). Yet, through it all, it remains a joyous, laugh-out-loud, exhilarating ride. This movie is my childhood, and I’ll treasure it forever. Goonies never say die! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/24/25 Full Review Audience Member The best kids movie of all time. End of. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/22/25 Full Review Audience Member This film marked my childhood! It’s an excellent adventure and treasure hunt movie, much like Indiana Jones, but with a group of kids. The humor, the film’s aesthetic, and the charisma of the characters are particularly memorable and very well executed. The story is simple but effective, and it has stayed etched in our memories since its release, becoming an iconic film for all generations. A true classic! Rating: 4.5/5 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/25 Full Review michael p A movie about a bunch of foul mouthed kids searching for treasure while being pursued by bad guys. Pretty standard for the time. Kids would probably like it. Though the language is rather crude. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/25 Full Review Read all reviews
