Wendy Ide Observer (UK) Gibson's robust directorial technique brings an undeniable punch to the combat scenes ... Elsewhere in the film, however, there's a sledgehammer lack of subtlety that is only partially mitigated by Andrew Garfield's impressive performance. Rated: 3/5 Jan 29, 2017 Full Review Donald Clarke Irish Times If they gave out awards for "most movie in a movie", then no other movie need turn up. Rated: 3/5 Jan 27, 2017 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) A rousing tale of Pacific War heroism that has more in common with jingoistic Wayne staples such as Sands of Iwo Jima or The Green Berets than anything in the 21st century, this is wearily formulaic film-making. Rated: 2/5 Jan 26, 2017 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson The trouble is this proper hero worship is drawn out and overstated in a bloated film that could lose 20 minutes of first-act exposition and 15 minutes of battle scene redundancies from its 131 minutes. Rated: 2/5 Oct 16, 2024 Full Review Diana Tuova Spotlight on Film For a film about a conscientious objector, this film may be viewed as unjustifiably violent, but Gibson still presents his hero in the best possible light, and the love story electrifies the screen. Rated: 4.5/5 Aug 9, 2024 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies The superbly shot battle scenes aside, Gibson’s traditionalist sensibilities show up in how he shoots everything else which is a perfect fit for this particular film. It’s easy to get lost in the period he visualizes. Rated: 4.5/5 Aug 21, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

tim s Hacksaw Ridge is a remarkable film. Based on a true story, it chronicles the incredible and extraordinarily brave exploits of Desmond Doss during the Battle of Okinawa. The battle scenes are the most realistic depictions of war I've ever seen. They are visceral, hard-hitting, gory, and wrought with tension. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/24/25 Full Review Vinicius S The film was very moving and remarkable, showing incredible learning for all people who were really interested in that film model and the practice of the Christian faith. It truly deserved the best film award. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/23/25 Full Review Guilherme D Esse é o melhor filme que assistir sobre Guerra, Fé e Fatos Reais, me surpreendeu! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/19/25 Full Review Maria O There's nothing really to complain about. Mel Gibson and Andrew Garfield did great job. Towards the beginning I thought It was possibly going to be more of a cringy film. Although, it wasn't. Good message, great film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/18/25 Full Review RAMBO_ F Its in the top 10 movies ever Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review Joshua E Man. First I gotta say, that someone went through this or anything similar to this is just baffling. What a hero. Now the meat and potatoes. This is a well told story of a many who by any measure shouldve quit. When you hear about the kind of person the Doss was, we have a hard time believing they could exist. Its a rare find to see someone who stands by their morals until the very end. The depictions of a man who knew his worth and knew his faith, was beautiful. Something about the movie absolutely made it feel much longer than its run time and I cant put my finger on it entirely, because I was captivated for the entire time. None the less this movie is definitely worth at least one watch. If you need to root for someone, Doss is worth your shout. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/15/25 Full Review Read all reviews
