Halloween Reviews
Another reboot and another chance for us Michael Myers’s fans to enjoy the frenzy. Not sure what I think about catching a glimpse of a nondescript looking Michael without the mask on as I’d rather leave his looks to the imagination.
Thought that this was a fantastic start to the new trilogy. Much better than any of the earlier ones. The first Halloween is still the best, but this one does an impeccable job.
The best horror remake
What you need to remember when you watch this movie is that it treats the sequels in-between the 1978 film and this as if they didn't exist, aside from minor easter eggs. So, we will judge this as a sequel to the 1978 film. And it's pretty good. It's not as good as the original, it's just under Season of the Witch in my ranking, but it's pretty good. The plot is simple: Michael comes back forty years after the 1978 murders and he's back to settle his beef with Laurie. It's basically the plot of H20 but Laurie is prepared and spent ages preparing. It makes sense, as Michael is clearly a supernatural figure, proven by how he survived six shots, somehow. And, as an ending to Laurie's story, this is pretty good. It's overall a movie about Laurie getting closure, which is an aspect it does well. Michael is great in this film, as well. He feels like an older, more worn down version of himself, which fits the film's tone, and yet he feels threatening and almost alien, as he should. His stalker-y tendencies are here, as well, as they should be, and they work. I mean, there's a massive one shot sequence of him stalking and killing people when he returns to Haddonsfield, and it's done well. That's what this film does well: it feels like a celebration of Halloween as a movie, and that's what I like about it. Overall, a solid sequel to Halloween that ends off Laurie's story well.
Exciting, suspenseful, and an anxiety ridden film.
Amazing reboot for the original Halloween. I just loved it! This Halloween reboot was amazing! Just perfect! Halloween gets a 5/5 Stars!
Great movie better than most halloween movie
Halloween 2018 embarks a solid continuation from the first film, skillfully weaving a long-standing conflict between Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode and her brother Michael Myers, transitioning well in modern times while also being a love letter to the franchise, delivering a contemporary and entertaining slasher that is uncommon in today’s cinematic landscape, showcasing a visceral and intense battle with the female leads, the three generations of Laurie Strode, front and center. Grading: B+
40 years later and what a sequel. Right next to the original, this worked so well for me. Loved it. Same themes and feel. Lots of good Easter eggs. I really enjoyed this. Finally a mask that can sit well with the original. Finally! Only took 40 years.
Depois de 40 anos, Halloween finalmente ganhou uma sequência digna e boa
Halloween - 8/10. David Gordon Green's reboot/reimagining sequel to original Halloween was one of the better horror films of the last decade. With a Sarah Connor like Jamie Lee Curtis in the lead, the series takes an interesting turn toward a more grittier and grizzly violent turn with this instalment. Green brings back Michael Myers as a Terminator like force. Myers is ruthless and seems even more stronger than the other instalments. The scene in the washroom alone shows the film's ruthless path its going down for the future of the franchise. Its interesting where Green is directing the series towards to, almost making the conflict between the main characters almost like a war. With the future sequels, it looks like we mights see some backstory involved, but what I liked most about this film is that there's no flashbacks or anything. Everything is moving forward, and I like the surprising action element being brought out in the film's climax. Lets see where the future has in store for this franchise!
I love this entry the most!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A great start to the blumhouse trilogy, I enjoyed the tension within the film as it was reminiscent of 1978 Halloween. Definitely a must see film.
An amazing return for this iconic franchise. I love the way this movie addresses trauma and how the events of the first movie impacted Laurie to her core. So often horror movies don’t have time to deal with grief and trauma but this film does it excellently. Loved this movie. Jamie is brilliant here as is the rest of the cast. And the music is so well done to stay inline with the vibe of the original. Defo recommend.
Un gran regreso para este slasher, la verdad una pelicula muy disfrutable y un regreso impecable
This movie is the closest contender to the first movie than any other Halloween film. Halloween 2018 delivered one hell of a performance from such a great cast and we got to see the scariest Michael Myers we have ever seen. In this universe, only the first movie happend and this was the sequel which started a new triology. Jamie Lee Curtis gave the audience a badass performance and she had been waiting for Michael to come for 40 years. Her whole house was dedicated to trapping Michael and lighting the whole house on fire. The kills were brutal and Michael wasted no time trying to get to Laurie. In my opinion, this movie has one of the best masks that has been worn by Michael and it's the scariest without a questions. Overall, an action packed and scary movie which was so relieving to have after all of these years without Michael Myers.
A louder, bloodier, yet worthy updating of the original. What it lacks in subtlety it more than makes up for in splatter. Where John Carpenter’s movie gave us the final girl, David Gordon Green’s incarnation gives us the final GIRLS as three generations of Strode women unite to take on cinema’s most iconic slasher killer.
In 1978, "Halloween" was released to the public and quickly became a major success, despite its low budget. John Carpenter's classic horror film has since spawned numerous sequels, most of which are considered inferior to the original. However, in 2018, that changed with the release of David Gordon Green's "Halloween." This film served as a direct sequel to the original 1978 movie, effectively retconning all the previous sequels. While it may not reach the same heights as the first film, it definitely captures a similar charm and enjoyment as its predecessor. This is exactly what the sequels should have aimed to achieve, thus making this probably the best sequel. The character development is nuanced, allowing both old and new characters to shine. The storyline builds on familiar themes while introducing fresh elements that keep the audience engaged. Additionally, the cinematography and soundtrack complement the narrative perfectly, enhancing the overall experience. Fans of the original will likely appreciate the callbacks and Easter eggs scattered throughout, which serve as a delightful reminder of what made the first film special. Overall, it strikes a perfect balance between nostalgia and innovation. While it may not reach the same heights as the first film, it definitely captures a similar charm and enjoyment as its predecessor. This is exactly what the sequels should have aimed to achieve, thus making this probably the best sequel. Building on the legacy of the original, the 2018 film brought back Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, now a traumatized survivor of Michael Myers’ rampage. The narrative focuses on her struggle to overcome the psychological scars left by that fateful night while preparing for the possibility of Michael's return. The film expertly balances nostalgia with modern storytelling, introducing new characters who bring fresh perspectives to the age-old battle between good and evil. Critically acclaimed for its tension and suspense, the 2018 "Halloween" revitalized the franchise, drawing in both long-time fans and a new generation of viewers. Its box office success also demonstrated that horror films, when done right, can still resonate deeply with audiences. The success of this installment paved the way for further sequels, reestablishing "Halloween" as a relevant and enduring presence in the horror genre.
A very nice addition to the franchise but isn't as good as the 1981 sequel. Changing Laurie to a total stranger instead of his sister wasn't a good idea. Tim Treakle
