Halloween H20: 20 Years Later Reviews
Laurie goes through the mirror. She goes from a hysterical babysitter who can’t wait to return to normal life to a grown woman who knows that normal does not exist and accepts the monster within.

It's a decent entry into the franchise, with solid performances and kills, but little in the way of additional flair.

A more claustrophobic take on Halloween fare, H20 features a stunning performance from Curtis who keeps this fast-paced feature from perishing.

The artless staging doesn’t make the film claustrophobic as much as vacuum-packed.

One of the nice things about the Halloween movie franchise is that, unlike so many other horror films, this one actually has a backstory and a plot.

Honestly, when it comes to the sequels, I prefer Laurie being Michael’s sister because it raises the stakes and heightens the emotion, especially when her life is on the line.

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later is a film that I am happy exists. Despite being extremely dated, its finale would have ended the Halloween franchise on a high note and given it well deserved closure. Regrettably, we don’t get to feel that end for long

It's not without it's flaws but H20 is a stand-out in the series for me. This is the best portrayal of Laurie Strode and Jamie Lee's best performance in the franchise. Myers could be much better but his showdown with Laurie is a series high-point.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Aug 19, 2022
In the wake of everything that came after Carpenter's version, H20 feels like another in the franchise's many attempts to bank on the iconic original instead of using it as a launchpad for something creatively distinct.

"Halloween H20" is the worst film in the series, and for one reason... its distracting plot holes.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Dec 5, 2020
This one got it what made the original film so special, and it reckons with history in a way that remains a series highlight, even if it's no longer official canon.

While sensibly brief and utterly classy compared to its horrid predecessors, H20 rarely rises above generic slasher fare outside of Curtis' entertaining performance.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Oct 21, 2018
H20 is far more character-driven than any of its predecessors.

The pay-off comes in the second half, a tight, driving rollercoaster of classic stalk and slash thrills.

Too bad it's only a smidgen better than the series' first first sequel, 1981's gory Halloween II.
| Original Score: 1.5/5 | Feb 2, 2014
[Director] Miner is tasked with getting these characters in one setting, and he accomplishes his duty for the most part.

Unquestionably the best of the Halloween followups...
| Original Score: 3/4 | Mar 9, 2011
It's somewhere around minute 58 - that's in a film that runs 80 minutes before credits, folks - before anything particularly interesting happens.
| Original Score: 3/10 | Aug 24, 2008
While Carpenter's film was all about economy and a skilful use of empty space, Miner's busy compositions have a cluttered feel that is echoed by superfluous orchestral music.
