Wendy Ide Times (UK) The plot is preposterous, but Joe Wright, the director, gives the movie enough audacious drive and style for the story to skim over the holes in the narrative logic. Oct 21, 2022 Full Review Alyx Vesey Bitch Media Even though there are misogynistic undercurrents to the fatal gunshot wound Hanna delivers... Weigler will never die because she lives on in Hanna, and her story will be retold and revised just like the fables women and girls pass on to one another. Jan 11, 2021 Full Review Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express The thing with Joe Wright's beautifully shot movie is that it never really feels true. Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 2, 2019 Full Review Michael Leader Den of Geek Hanna shows some promise, particularly in Ronan’s versatile performance, but between the overwrought style and underdeveloped script, there’s plenty for Wright to workshop... Rated: 3/5 May 8, 2024 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review There may not be as much grand meaning or deeply affecting substance when compared to his previous works, but Wright and company have created an exciting story, richly told with copious amounts of style. Rated: 3.5/4 Jul 31, 2023 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) Hanna doesn't bore for a single moment, although it's unintelligible for most minutes. Peter B Comfortably the worst film I have watched in recent years. Redeeming features? Hard to find any. Cate’s hair? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/22/25 Full Review Leaburn O Stylish assassin film with some good scenes and elements that drag a little. Watched on Netflix. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/19/25 Full Review Dave S Best known for period pieces like Atonement and Pride & Prejudice, Hanna feels like a bit of a departure for director Joe Wright. Raised in isolation by her father (Eric Bana) in a remote area of Finland, Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) has been raised to be a lethal assassin, her purpose in life to kill the woman who murdered her mother. On a journey that takes her from Morocco to Germany, the young girl tries to adapt to a world she doesn’t understand while maintaining focus on her ultimate goal of revenge. While Ronan’s performance is the main reason to watch, it’s also impressive how Wright manages to transition from sedate, deliberately paced drama in his previous efforts to wildly unhinged action set pieces in a thriller that manages to hold the viewer’s attention throughout. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/11/25 Full Review Brad S. R Saorise Ronan is fantastic as always, but I simply couldn't find much of a point to this shoot-em-up action thriller. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 04/07/25 Full Review Jason A Quirky but not always in a good way. Frustrating and ridiculous at times but no doubt very enjoyable if you can somehow just turn off your brain and not be annoyed by the continuous flow of point to point leaping around and coincidences. The directing tries WAY too hard to be nouveau. Accents aren't great either. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/14/25 Full Review Tom P The acting was decent and I didn't mind the story line, however I could have easily fast forwarded about 45 minutes of the movie without effecting the plot or enjoyability in any way (in fact it would have been far better). It would have made a better limited series on Netflix. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review Read all reviews
