Here Alone Reviews
The plot of Here Alone is straightforward, meaning that it is easy to figure out where things are heading. However, the characters are quite realistic, and the setting is perfectly realized.

As the flashbacks are dribbled out right up until the final scenes, we are asked to project ourselves back into behavior and decisions made by Ann as a result of her obvious trauma. The problem is that no such convergence exists.

"Here Alone" achieves its success by keeping the story restrained and straightforward.
| Original Score: 7/10 | May 15, 2021
A riveting film with home-hitting elements like the initial uncertainly surrounding how bad things would get with the "virus", the prevalence of masks, and how quickly one can get used to being alone, despite the mental unhealthiness of isolation.

The film makes a virtue out of focusing on the people trying to survive a viral apocalypse rather than on those who have been transformed by it.

I really liked where they went with the final act, and I loved how it ended.

Here Alone is a story about our humanity, the ups and downs of emotional attachment and need. Even at a time of crisis they can lift us up or let us down.

While Here Alone has compelling pieces, the whole lacks momentum and thrust.

[T]he film is considerably compelling, the performances strong across the board, and the action (or lack thereof) is captured beautifully.

...feels like a ninety-minute compilation of filler material.

Low budget films lend themselves well to survivalist, zombie-laden subject matter, and Here Alone fits perfectly within that genre.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 20, 2018
Beautifully shot and perfectly paced Here Alone is the zombie film for those who want more than just gore and head shots. An emotional journey that focuses in on character relationships and the human psyche.
| Original Score: 5/5 | Aug 30, 2018
Unfortunately, the actors don't quite summon enough urgency to convey their dilemma, and for the most part the movie just comes off like 90 minutes of watching people get into trouble camping.
| Original Score: 2.25/5 | Aug 28, 2018
Here Alone is a sometimes-striking, sometimes-repetitive glimpse into apocalyptic drama that struggles to offer anything new.

In the end, Here Alone does not make any particular mark. [Full review in Spanish]

Here Alone is definitely not the worst zombie movie I've ever seen, but I won't be recommending it to any of my zombie enthusiast friends either.

Though there's not a whole lot of plot here, Ebeltoft makes a virtue of writing economy, and director Rod Blackhurt maintains considerable interest as well as a consistent low hum of tension.
| Apr 3, 2017
It never establishes a consistent sense of tension or doom.

Given the familiarity of its premise - a handful of survivors brave the aftermath of a deadly, rage-inducing virus - "Here Alone" is unexpectedly engaging.

This is the first act of a better movie, stretched to fill a feature.
