How High Reviews
the critics should get off their high horses and stop acting like this movie is the worst thing mankind has ever created just cause it doesn’t take itself too serious. if you just want to have fun and watch a stoner/comedy movie, chances are you’ll probably like this one
The critics may view it poorly, but as long as you don’t go in expecting too much there’s still plenty of laughs to be had. Rude and silly stoner comedy, but come on… what else could you expect!
Great intelligent, stoner, feel good movie! Super underrated because of the common idea of drugs being bad! Doesn't feel like "Cheech and Chong" for me, more like "Half Baked"/"Super troopers" vibes. Soundtrack is a really good oldschool, North american hip -hop scene 🔥🔥🔥
This is exactly what I expected from a stoner comedy starring Redman and methodman. They have great chemistry and the film got a few chuckles out of me. Definitely not the best film but not the worst either.
The target audience will love it, stoners and fans of 90s rap, and it has an absolute nostalgia factor for millennials that make the flaws extremely easy to overlook. I love the film, I have great memories of the film, and I will still continue to watch it every few years. It’s like “Don’t be a Menace (to South-Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood)”. Absolute classic, and Red/Meth show some actual acting and comedy chops, I wish it would have been a series, like Edgar Wright’s films with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
23 years later and I still watch this movie! It was a classic then and it has only got better with time 🤣 Redman trying to be a ghost will always bust a gut with me. My daughter grew up watching this film, and I can't wait until the grandkids are old enough 🤣🤣🤣
ts is so bad its good. classic
Movie is so bad it makes vomit look good.
This movie is down right hilarious, and a staple for a generation. An absolute classic. If you have a sense of humor and do not enjoy this film well then you don’t have a sense of humor period. 10/10 one of the top movies ever.
If anyone disagrees with the movie, you need to understand it's two rappers who made one of the most solid films at the time, it doesn't have to be perfect because it's two damn rappers who were probably actually getting high making it harder. Point is yall cared enough to watch it so it couldn't have been as bad as these reviews make it out to be.
As far as hi-jinks go, I suppose a supernatural weed supply is kinda original, but this is far too close to Legally Blonde in terms of someone going to a college that is out of their element, leading to a Superman comeback to achieve their dreams. I've seen it before and will at some point likely see it again.
This is by far my all time favorite stoner movie. I have seen it countless times and still quote it quite often. There's a reason why the critics and audience scores are so different and it's such a massive cult classic. I also find that the people who don't like it are people who I wouldn't want to hang out with so it's a good metric for figuring out whos a head or not lol. 10/10 will continue to watch this movie countless times more
As someone who was entering college around the time of its release, I can assure you this movie was beloved by MANY…and still is.
90/100 - classic. method man and redman have perfect synergy in this film. its a classic stoner comedy and its not just crude or dumb humor. it ages well despite the current zietgiest of society and is something ive watched many times and will watch many times to come.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
Look how wrong you all were. 10 years later..... cult classic!
It has it's moments especially in the first half but goes off the rails frequently in the second half. The acting my Redman & Method Man isn't much more than them just being themselves. They do have some charm and Lauren/Silas actually do have some chemistry but the supporting characters are generic, over the top, and don't have much charm at all. The jokes which work a bit in the first half fall completely flat with tons of gross out and poor slapstick humor in the second. Mike Epps's character feels completely unneeded as well. The cinematography is basic camera angles with a couple obnoxious ones in between, along with some dumb scenes and dumb visual gags that lack any cleverness to them. Both the acting and cinematography are subpar. The music is full of 2000's Hip Hop and is generic and dated. The editing is bad especially in the 2nd half as things just happen in a very basic plot. And that leads to Not Very Good Pacing which is a shame because the first half had its moments of being fast paced and this is a short film overall but it struggles to even fill that runtime. Unless your a Stoner or fan of Method Man/Redman than skip this.
Another one of my favorite movies. Doesn't matter if high, sober, or drunk. This movie is hilarious.
bsst thing ever made, R.I.P John Addams
