Jesse Hassenger AV Club Some older folks may have seen the standalone term “visual” used in place of “music video,” and wondered what the difference is. This is it. Hurry Up Tomorrow is not a movie, nor a music video. It is a visual. Rated: D- May 15, 2025 Full Review Clint Worthington RogerEbert.com It’s vapid, meandering, and insistent on its own profundity as a tale of an artist reckoning with fame. Rated: .5/4 May 15, 2025 Full Review Nate Adams The Only Critic Tesfaye wants you to applaud his pain, validate his journey, and bask in his voice like it’s a spiritual awakening. Gimme a break. Rated: F May 15, 2025 Full Review Charles Koplinski Reel Talk with Chuck and Pam You don’t watch this film so much as try to survive it. Rated: 0/4 May 15, 2025 Full Review Aaron Neuwirth We Live Entertainment The intensity that should seemingly be shared by Tesfaye and Ortega doesn’t quite emerge as effectively as needed. Instead, there seems to be some dark comedy on display, intentional or not, that undercuts the results. Rated: 5/10 May 15, 2025 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com Maybe Weeknd fans will eat it up, but it’s a lot of work to find anything substantial in this glorified music video. Dwayne Basically a 2 hour The Weekend video with him and Jenna Ortega crying the whole time. Time I will never get back. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review G Look I like The Weeknd’s music… and I love Jenna and Barry but… God awful. Screamed narcissism. Painting a picture of a crazy ex while never addressing exactly what he did, not only does it paint him in a bad light, but it gives the story NO context. Nothing to draw us in, nothing to see the nuance. The whole time I was like okay….. but what did YOU do? And The Weeknd cannot act… like I honestly don’t know why an actual movie studio signed on for this project. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Leslie The movie was okay, but it wasn't what I expected. It delves deep into the internal demons Abel fights, focusing more on his personal struggles than on the external conflicts. The journey through his challenges ultimately becomes a source of music for us, illustrating how art often emerges from pain. It candidly addresses his battles with alcohol and drug addiction, alongside a toxic relationship that completely consumes him. While not the action-packed film I anticipated, it offers a poignant look at the complexities of addiction and self-discovery. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Abbie R Absolutely funny. Cinematic. Heartbreaking. Crazy to feel all these emotions in one film alone. Well done The weeknd or should i say.. Abel Tesfaye. Call me by the all familiar name. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Selena As a weeknd fan, I think the roll out for this should have been bigger, at least here in Chicago! However, the movie was a good psyco-thriller. The Weeknd performance was excellent and the lead female actress! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Micah Rucker Movie made absolutely no sense. From beginning to end, Middle, and End very hard to watch. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Read all reviews
