Audience Member I wanna talk about the ending of the movie, but I won't. It would overshadow a good movie and pretty good performances. Having Will Smith in the lead of the film made the movie. He was in control of the movie, selling the hole, fear and isolation that existed. His acts largely solo and manages to make you feel the desperation. There are some super sad moments in the movie, and it looks very bleak for the second half of the film. Then, the ending. Nothing I say will be any different than any else. Not sure why they got cute and changed it from the book. That's what's holding it back from a higher score. El cómo a través de la narrativa visual podemos sentir de primera mano la soledad, el vacío tanto mental cómo físico del personaje, acompañado claramente de un Will Smith fantástico hace que sea casi imposible que esta historia no te toque internamente de alguna forma, no es casualidad que la silueta con la que abre esta historia de Neville y Sam se haya vuelto una de las más reconocibles de los 2000’s. Esta película sin la necesidad de tener diálogos excesivos hizo que sintamos mil cosas con cada maldito plano. Uno de los aspectos que más me impactó de esta primera mitad, fue la forma desde la que se aborda nuestra propia fragilidad, ya sea desde nuestra dependencia de interactuar con otras personas, cómo de nuestra incapacidad ante desastres, expuestos de forma espectacular desde los Flashbacks de Neville. Esta película tiene un subtexto muy interesante que se centra desde mi punto de vista en la redención y la esperanza; y cómo cada uno necesita de la otra para crear un “milagro”, la película sin ser aleccionadora tiene simbolismos religiosos que actúan cómo faro y catalizador en el viaje de nuestro personaje, divididas en dos partes que fungen como un camino con un objetivo, pero sin propósito, a un camino con un propósito aún más grande que el mismo. “I Am Legend” abre con escenas de acción espectaculares técnicamente, con un CGI muy pulido para la época en una NY en ruinas que se ve fantástica, a indagar en cómo la esperanza en un propósito es el motor más fuerte para perseverar con el cambio. Una historia que habla de cómo nuestro Legado está en que y quién decidimos ser hasta nuestros últimos días con las herramientas que tuvimos a la mano para crear un mundo mejor.
