Iceman Reviews
Caveman revenge flick. Yawn. Frozen alright. Stunning, absolutely stunning scenery and cinematography. Acting, solid enough. Cavespeak not necessary to understand the film - that was fun. But a dull as goat turds story line that is as predictable (but for one ooops did the earth just open to eat me scene) as it is cliche heavy. A revenge flick s'all complete with your standard opening copulation scene and ruthless kill scenes. Caveman gets revenge then surprise not surprise second ending and dies in the snow anyway. One extra half-star for pointing out the obvious, humans suck and revenge begets revenge begets, ok, you got and we have been at it for like ever. P.S. Better closing music would have been Frank Sinatra singing That's Life or Pharrel Williams' Happy.
For a movie that had no understandable language it held my attention for its entirety. Beautifully filmed and wonderfully acted it had me pondering how man could have survived such an unforgiving environment. A bleak, lonely and cruel world that made me think long and hard about life and survival some 5000 years ago.
Great looking film.
In the first few minutes, I wanted to leave. No dialog, no action... you know, all the things we've come to expect from a "good" movie. But the more I watched, the more I wanted to watch. It made you wonder what times were like over 5,000 years ago. Violence was the only way to survive. But no one back then (or now) could understand why people do what they do. They just wanted revenge on those who took something dear away from them. (spoiler alert) And even the hero has revenge exacted on himself. I felt like telling the characters in the film, "Hey, he or she did this because..." But all we could do was just let it all play out.
For a film with barely any dialogue, this was fantastic. A Stone Cold, Stone Age thriller - highly recommended!
What sick, pathetic, wretched, negative, unrealistic Imagination wrote such a WASTE OF TIME??? Example of absurdity: having fallen into an ice crevice another dude just happens along to throw him an absurdly long smooth well-braided perfectly manufactured long rope. None, NONE OF THIS was well written, well imagined, factual historic, with any true sense of a theme or story. A fer-shure good buddy "Pay NOT TO SEE"". Save your time value your life and spend it on a different movie!
Iceman definitely had so much more potential than what it settles for.
Excellent movie. Must see. A new movie experience. Maybe 2 dozen spoken words and all in a primitive language with no subtitles yet this movie is compelling and completely understandable.
Superb movie in every aspect including the decision to keep the retuc language without subtitles! Wonderful photography
As an experimental historical fiction I was able to delve deeply and at times lose myself in the mystique and awe of the story.. If you like unconventional storytelling with something unique to say I'd say give it a try. There are no subtitles as the time period Rhaetian Language adds to the story without revealing what they are saying. Brilliant screenplay, directing, acting, costume design, cinematography. Would love to see something else by the same team / producers. A favorite for sure!
I rented this from ITunes. I really enjoyed the film. Rare there is a movie that touches on this time period in such a remarkable and beautiful way. There isnï¿ 1/2(TM)t much dialogue, but what is said isnï¿ 1/2(TM)t translated. That doesnï¿ 1/2(TM)t matter. The story takes a real 5k year old man they found frozen and gives him a story. I think the writers did a great job. Itï¿ 1/2(TM)s not for everyone, but worth checking out. If you need CGI to keep you entertained, this definitely isnï¿ 1/2(TM)t for you.
