nothing happens. dour, extremely boring. not compelling. i’m tired of hearing this girl talk about nothing.

All IO felt like an hour and half of plot development with no definitive climax or conclusion. As if when they got to end, they lost the plot in exchange for some cheap and vague existential crisis with literally no cliff hanger. They could have explored the plot more by delving into Micahs character showing his journey to IO.

I know that a lot of people obviously hate this movie but I thought that it was really good. Not an action based sci-fi post apocalyptic film. It’s definitely slow paced but I found it a thoughtful and beautiful movie.

This is so drama in a box, there's a lack of any decent flow, up or down. Watch half way decided to call it a day.

I could never quite feel the danger of the planet with such amazing wild landscapes full of grasses and sunshine. The film also plodded along way too slowly in places.

Absolut waste of time

A terrible sci-fantasy production that doesn't stand up to even casual scrutiny. The world logic just isn't there. The central character ventures out to collect various samples in an environment that is apparently devoid of breathable air, yet is riding a combustion engine vehicle. Next, she carefully starts collecting samples in sterile bags, using her bare hands? Right from the outset this film sets the tone of being ambivalent with its world-building details. It's best for audiences to just skip this lazy production.

It honestly seemed like a really good movie at first. Soon as you get to the middle of the movie it falls apart quickly. Alot of annoying scientific inaccuracies bog down this sci-fi movie that aims for realism. The ending is also a huge middle finger to the audience. Wouldnt suggest watching this.

They couldn't have made this movie's pace slower if they tried. The plot unfolds at a snail's pace and i the dialogue doesn't help keep you interested. If you've got a few free hours and don't expect much, then I guess it's worth suffering through.

It would be nice to have a little Sci-fi in my Sci-fi movie. This was just a drama with an apocalyptic back drop.

I liked everything leading up to shortly after the guy landed in the hot air balloon. Actually, I liked the main character and the acting was fine. However, I thought it was a really bad idea to immediately inject a sexual ‘relationship' between the two main characters at that point. It seemed very unnatural and inorganic and it was also sort of disgusting how quickly and unemotionally they transitioned from her relationship with Elon. Also, it appeared to be some forced thing to get pregnant which seemed insane. For me, it took away from the feeling that these were people in a crisis trying to survive. I also didn't like the ending at all. The idea that the girl could adapt to a toxic, oxygen free environment in what appears to be a spontaneous occurrence no less was ridiculous. I thought that it was also quite stupid how they made her have that guy's kid and that the child was also born immune to having to breathe oxygen, which doesn't make any sense. The most ridiculous scene was the very last scene where she was having a good time at the beach, thriving with her son while there's almost no visibility due to toxic gas clouds which would make any sustainability for life impossible, regardless of having to breathe.

Not bad. I love Margaret Qualley (Sam), and she does a nice job here, though she wasn't given too much to work with as far as introspective dialogue or emotional expression. The movie is heavy on the sparseness of story lines, characters, explication, and hope often found in post-apocalyptic movies somewhere in the framework of science fiction. Anthony Mackie (Micha) is better in this role than I'm used to getting from him. The role suited him well and he gave a mature, composed performance. Could we get some more Danny Huston, though? The direction by Halpert is restrained and confidnet, with a fitting tone set early and maintained well. Nice work also by the trio of writers. It was a nice, creative use of the Leda and the Swan metaphor, using the painting and Yeats' poem. I was also pleased with the open-ended final scene after her last moments with Micah. 3 stars

An entertaining movie with good acting and direction. The story of the end of life on earth is captured well and there are interesting twists in the plot. The latter half held my attention and the ending is … well watch and find out. I found the movie to be better than I expected although there was something of a lesser budget aspect. Nevertheless a worthwhile watch.

Loved it - the idea of human connection, the notion of home, and the instinct of survival..

Slow, they basically just say a bunch of 'profound thoughts' every 10 minutes, and the rest is silent. It is very predictable and the 'suprise ending' isnt even that great. Dont waste your time. You will be sorely disappointed. But the actress was pretty good

This film is like a love letter to Earth and how we should never give up on it. I love high concept indie sci-fi films and feel they are often unfairly treated by critics and should be commended for their ambition on such low budgets more often. Beautiful film shot on Red with Anamorphic lenses.
