Jesus Camp Reviews

Mar 17, 2025

Scarier than a horror movie. Shot with balance and respect, the directors use the camera as a testimony of the evangelical christian community and a particularly indoctrinating summer camp without forgetting some meaningful shot that visualize the hard content the film proposes.

Approaching this documentary with intrigue towards potential insight in the biblical conversion onto such young age, only to question it further between discomfort towards its mis-conceptualized presentation and newfound contrary to the core belief system, without any negativity. No doubt earnest in the grasped facts within their maintained beliefs while this film, without straying from the objective, managed to present both sides of the argument including witnessing the indoctrination process amidst youth's growth presented as a cinematically documented brochure, which unveils the conflict via hence the misconception. It remains close to the titular camp's processive narrative, but in a conflicting, questionable light including the verbal deliverance without much context to solidify the concreteness. The present engagement, if too compelled with also an open mind, could find how badly it got dated, in a form of a betrayal, as part of the other thought regarding an interesting update on the involving figures in the undeniably-associated political climates. Beliefs come and go at times politically connected more or less to none, as it's about individualism between good and bad paths, and this undoubtedly divisive documentary does provide insightful glimpses under general senses towards child development to consider. However, when thinking about the Christianity connections the faction tried to sell, there's clearly indoctrination that doesn't convince otherwise as it originates the perceptually contrived delivery surrounding a number of Christian pictures while few others are actually blessed. Absolutely terrifying. This is nothing short of child abuse.

Over the years, if history has taught us one thing it is the fact that blind faith is dangerous. This has never been more evident than in Jesus Camp, a documentary that explores the quest of fundamentalist Christians in America to shamelessly brainwash their children into their faith for political gain. Equal parts infuriating, shocking and saddening, it follows pastor Becky Fischer as she indoctrinates children, like lambs led to the slaughter, at her ‘Kids on Fire' summer camp in North Dakota. What is equally unsettling (and a testament to the objectivity of the filmmakers) is the fact that the fundamentalists would undoubtedly support their actions documented over the course of the film as the fulfilment of their mission. Jesus Camp is compelling viewing throughout and is everything that a good documentary should be.

One of the most important movies of the early 2000s

May 27, 2021

Jesus Camp makes ever-clear the US's obsession with Christianity and the dangers of compulsory indoctrination, religion in politics, and fundamentalism.

Jesus Camp is a really good, yet disturbing documentary about Evangilist and their radical ideas including their Jesus Camp that children attend to grow their faith with God, but in a pretty terrible way.

A very disturbing look at evangelical indoctrination of children.

I'm an atheist. I have noticed how the brave liberals are always willing to slam Christianity ( along with the useless idiots in Harvey Wood). But are gutless when it comes to the atrocities done by the peaceful religion of Islam. ( Hypocritical individuals). FYADS

One of the most disturbing looks into the Bush-era Evangelical movement. Which luckily has been phased out since that time. I can't imagine what kind of a world we would live in of the people depicted in this documentary came to power. 5 out of 5

A fascinating look at the indocrination of kids, asked to learn how to lay down their lives for God if needed, Harry Potter was a wizard and should be put to death, and of course there's this 6000 year old earth, and no global warning. Scary parts where you see the parents nudging the kids and home-schooling them. At a rally, Becky, the leader of the religious group sponsoring the camp, asked the children a question and raise their hands, I saw the mother grab the hand of her son and raise it for him. Interviews with mothers who are bent on teaching selection, speaking in tongues, and worshipping a cardboard stand-up of President Bush add to the eerie sense. Balancing all this is Mike Papantonio, radio host of "Ring of Fire", syndicated over the area. He even has a chat with Becky toards the end, questioning her methods and havingn her answer back with no sense of irony. This is required viewing, no matter whose side you are on.

Everyone should see this movie.

Alarming that over 80 million people in the US think like this!

May 2, 2017

Unbiased direction and yet very strong statements being made here. This doc helps illustrate how extreme religion can get without necessarily being violent. This mentality is not only prevalent in my area, but causes turmoil even amongst religious groups.

A very intriguing yet disturbing documentary.

Interesting, level-headed, and straight to the point, Jesus Camp is worthwhile for God-fearing Evangelicals and Devil-worshiping Heathens alike. It's "Great!"
