Heart wrenching, couldn’t stop sobbing, one of my favourite movies
Absolutely ridiculous plot and a waste of some good actors with unrealistic script and ham overacting.
I can’t watch this movie again because it breaks my heart. But I love Denzel Washington period, let alone in this movie which is heart wrenching and beautiful.
I guess they spent all the money on hiring stars, because they certainly didn't have much left for script or production. Dreadful Ham performances from all, cheesey story, dreary slow pace, terrible camera work, looks like low budget soap. Possibly the worst movie I've seen in a long time.
Beautiful performances by the cast. Denzel always a pleasure to watch. Fun and interesting story and a thought provoking reflection on the health care system in the US.
A raw portrayal of the Western healthcare system. Denzel is top as always.
A Denzel Classic. He's really good and the best thing in this. It makes you angry throughout watching it for how accurate it paints healthcare for half the country that wasn't born on the working side of the system. It als does a great job explaining the medical and insurance technical jargon overall as well. The story makes perfect sense and you do feel for an impossible situation. The editing isn't bad but it can feel like at times it's not the smoothest with it's storytelling. It can feel like stuff just happens not in the most cohesive manner which probalby could've been done smoother. Everything else though is pretty solid about it. The other major flaws here is the messaging is VERY on the nose, the setup is very over the top at times especially when he is gonna kill himself and injects lots of sentimetal moments and feels very over the top. The direction also is pretty basic stuff as well and the setting is kind of forgetful in the ER mainly because theres nothing that memorable about it. Just a lot of metallic dull grey. It does do a fairly decent job though of maintiaining tension though. It's fairly simliar to The Negotiator in that regard but not as clever or tense. It just needed to not be as on the nose, better direction, and just less tugging at the heartstrings, and maybe a bit less over the top moments too. Focusing more on the subsance of the manner. But it does work at raising awareness of health disparities and doing so with characters you care about and Denzel. Anyone who is a fan of any actors in this, thriller dramas, or is interested in the subject manner should check this out.
One of my absolute favorite performances from Denzel! I don’t know what the critics have been smoking but I would say this is in my top 20 favorite movies of all time!
26% Really? This movie was a 10/10 for me. Incredible acting. Emotional Scenes. Badass Scenes. Great Message. Plus Top Tier Story Telling.
The cast of this movie is wild let's review Denzel Robert Duvall Ray Liotta Ann Heche E from Entourage That guy from south land Eddie Griffin Randy from my name is earl And James Woods This is an extremely underrated movie if you haven't watched it rent it. Even if you think the plots dumb it's a very entertaining film.
When denzel get involved it ought to be sky high. Great piece of art.
This has a great premise, forward thinking elements for its time and a good cast. There were some scenes that seemed rushed, phoned-in and a waste of the talent. Those few elements let down the whole film which had it been tighter would have been a really good one.
Great movie with an even better message!
Denzel Washington, what an actor
Probably the worst Denzel Washington movie I have seen, but that just means this film is average.
Thrilling movie. Gets a little stale at times but still enjoyable and worth the watch
I keep finding my attention wondering off while watching this film and every time my eyes return to the screen there's some new absurdity transpiring. Like, how can so much take place yet the narrative has a pace that would a snail would find tedious.
I would like to state that I would do anything for my daughter including the actions portrayed in this movie no matter the consequences, therefore has a father this movie touches a nerve.
This film shows how sick the US health care system is. All healthcare should be free, as it is in Europe. Denzel Washington is, as always, a really great actor.
