Kalki 2898 AD Reviews
KALKI 2898 AD is extremely ambitious and at least on this sci-fi scale unique in Indian Cinema. Unfortunately, the storytelling is also rather confusing and lackluster and never able to convey big emotions. Somehow it is always everywhere and nowhere.

Kalki 2898 AD isn’t a film; it’s a proposal for one. It ends not on a cliffhanger, but a call-to-action. It is — and there’s no better way to describe it — the cinematic equivalent of clickbait.

You can tell a lot about a film’s collective smartness with the way it employs its star cameos.

This dystopian setup foreshadows the grim future for mankind should the world continue on its current course, but underneath, it's packed with mythological symbols and diverse cultural, spiritual, and religious beliefs.

Ultimately, for all its wildly entertaining elements, Kalki 2898 AD feels like too much of a good thing, resembling the sort of lavish buffet meal that leaves you feeling overstuffed and exhausted.

With fight scenes, vehicle chases, explosions, magic, and more (though not enough musical interludes), I can’t say whether or not I’ll attach myself to all of the KCU, but I’m at least looking forward to what’s in the immediate future for this series.

Kalki 2898 AD has a single goal, which is to achieve the status of Freakin’ awesome! for its entire running time. Overstuffed plot aside, it meets that goal.

Enough to keep me watching anything the franchise churns out until whatever Ashwin has in mind for its grand finale...

So this is how the world ends, not with a whimper but a great many massive bangs, battles and increasingly complicated alliances, betrayals and stirring songs. It is terrific, cathartic fun.

Kalki 2898 AD is an epic genre hybrid with bold choices, a strong narrative, and charismatic performances, but it needs better focus and character clarity

A celebration of its own inspirations while also being its own strikingly singular artistic voice.

A triumph of maximalism like an album by Queen, or a buffet at a restaurant where everything is good, Kalki 2898 A.D. is a lot.
