Kingsman: The Golden Circle Reviews
The film suffers from a nasty case of sequelitis, whereby the follow-up has the same basic plot of its predecessor and makes the mistake of assuming the outcome of more action is a better film. It's not.

I liked Kingsman: The Golden Circle but made crucial film franchise management mistakes.

Star studded, but is so enamoured of its own style it doesn't give anyone a chance to be interesting.

The first thing on the screen is an orange tuxedo - because this series seems to be firstly about fashion and only secondly about entertainment.

Only if you were a fan of the first, and even then, you may be disappointed...

As Merlin would say, this is whiskey compared to single-malt scotch. It'll give you a slight buzz at times, but that doesn't mean it was distilled with enough time or care.

But Vaughn ... goes about his material with a lowbrow and mean-spirited nature that's simply a turn off.

It's like watching James Bond on steroids, all with Matthew Vaughn's distinctive seal of shining originality. [Full review in Spanish]

If you enjoyed the first, then Kingsman: The Golden Circle won't disappoint you. It's just as fun, even if its shiny shoes have been slightly scuffed.

So jumbled, bursting with extraneous nonsense and plot holes, that the pace drags to the point of exhaustion. At best, The Golden Circle's a moderately entertaining trifle; at worst, a tedious slog.

The follow-up, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, desperately wants you to think it's subversive, even though it's really just bigger, louder and bloated to the point where you wish minutes and certain cast members could have been carved out.

Overall, fans of the original will find more than enough to like here, and even casual moviegoers are likely to get a couple kicks from it.

Apparently, Vaughn is working on a third installment. At this point, I'm not sure whether to be excited or irritated by that. He's a good filmmaker, and he can absolutely do better than this.

There is certainly fun to be had and heart to be found in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, but it comes at the cost of a lowered bar and the acknowledgment of the fact that there are already better and more provocative action movies out this year.

The zaniness won me over by the film's endless parade of creative ridiculous gadgets and weapons.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Jan 24, 2020
Watching two well-dressed gangs of idiots fight with high-tech gadgets and wallow around in 1970s Bond tropes should be a lot more fun than this.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle falls short of its predecessor but is a worthy sequel loaded with epic action sequences, outrageous comedy.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Nov 14, 2019
It was the inventive and slick action sequences; edgy, topical humour; a silly American villain to contrast against the gentlemanly & extraordinarily British Kingsman - instead of meaningfully expanding the emotionality of its predecessor.

Think of a film like The Hangover and then remember how its unfunny sequels actually made the first part seem less funny in retrospect.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Sep 30, 2019
Sequels are supposed to take movie franchises to new heights. Kingsman:The Golden Circle aims to do just the opposite. There's more of everything here; more blood, foul language, laughs and a higher body count. The frantic, manic pace doesn't let go.
