Kinky Boots Reviews
Hi Gert-Jan Burghart from the South of The Netherlands here, love it, kinky Boots !
It is true that without CE it would be harder to find this as enjoyable as it is, but JE is also very good, so it makes for a great pairing. I love the quirks of the story, the oddball nature of some of the characters, the industrial setting, and the level of comedy is just right. It's a film I forget how much I enjoy until I'm watching it again
Superb and life affirming!
This was a wonderful story. I have to say that in my younger years, I was quite judgmental. Now that I am 60+, I have improved upon myself and have become more understanding and welcoming. This is a heartfelt movie that was wonderfully written. I can only imagine how difficult life was for folks like this and I was one of the ones that pointed a finger. For that, I am truly sorry. This is a movie to watch!
Kinky Boots' main issue is that it lacks interest and memorability. The characters and story are presented in a way that is dull, which is a shame because as the far superior musical theater adaptation of the movie has shown, this premise can be done well.
The factory was actually a supplier of mine some years ago. A beautiful love story, with a tale of overcoming ignorance and prejudice during a time of deprivation in Northern England. If you liked The Full Monty or Billy Elliot, then you'll probably love this.
Ejiofor is great. The rest of the film is just ok with some entertaining interactions between its cast.
'Kinky Boots' is very good, as it seamlessly mixes two majorly different worlds to create a delightful film. Chiwetel Ejiofor does a superb job with his performance as Lola, a role I didn't think I would ever see from him but one I'm glad he did. Joel Edgerton is more than solid as Charlie, while Sarah-Jane Potts (Lauren) and Nick Frost (Don) are decent in their parts - though the stuff with Frost's character is overly predictable. Nice pacing, well chosen music and Ejiofor's strong showing all help this production work to a strong degree.
So t understand why this movie has less than 80 percent on this site- perhaps people are impatient. It is slow to start but once you get to know the characters it's a heartfelt and inspirational ride.
A feel good movie. Loved it.
Loved it. A kind and gentle people-story. Loved how it challenges perceptions of sexuality and gender stereotyping. .
How is this movie only getting a 74 percent from audiences? It's a great, fun and life telling story. Great actors...etc. Glad I watched. Want to see the Broadway show now!
It's okay. Weird. But okay.
Only noteworthy aspect is Chiwetel Ejiofor's performance as the vibrant and heartfelt Lola in what is an otherwise bland British comedy. I imagine the kinkiness is better served in the musical play.
I love this movie. A beautiful story. Excellent acting. Would have liked to watch another 45 minutes to really allow all of the characters to develop. This is a movie that everyone can watch and that pleases me greatly.
