Kung Pow: Enter the Fist Reviews
Kung Pow is one of those movies that only wants you to laugh by any means. If you liked Top Secret or Airplane!, you should watch it.
Terrible movie, but HILARIOUS!!!
I did not expect to enjoy this movie. I watched it because my husband wanted to. But now I’m so sad there isn’t a sequel! We need the sequel! I don’t understand the critics score. The humor was so unexpected and there was even a little romance 😜
Is Kung Pow! Enter the Fist a completely ridiculous movie? Yes. Is it also highly entertaining and surprisingly clever? Also, yes. The fact that Steve Oedekerk digitally inserted himself into an old martial arts film to parody the genre and create something completely original is a strange kind of genius, and many of the visual effects still hold up. This movie is very quotable, too. While I find it to be enjoyable, I do know this kind of absurd humor would annoy some people, so I can’t recommend it to everyone, but those with a unique sense of humor should give Kung Pow! Enter the Fist a chance.
This is nothing short of a masterpiece.
A masterpiece. WHAAAAAAAAAAALE!!!!!!!!!!!
You go that way, I'll go home
I absolutely love this movie, I love kung fu movies and I love silliness , there are some moments that don't hold up (the obligatory matrix reference, really, but also some of the CGI) but other than that there are so, so many gags that you will eventually start laughing, and then start laughing at yourself for being so dumb to laugh at the jokes, and it doesn't really stop until the movie ends, amazing. I'm both happy and disappointed that there will never be a sequel.
This movie is great! I loved this all those critical critics should stop lying to you! This is so funny I don’t care that it kind of is low quality it’s funny and made me laugh 27 times! I watched this as a pre teen and it was great watched it again as an adult to my daughter she loved it. Happy to see others enjoy what I love!
This is hands down one of my all time favorite movies. If you like off the wall nonsense you should check this out.
I think it's a funny film that obviously spoofs the classic Kung Fu films of the 70's & 80's. Actual footage from a Hong Kong film starring the legendary "Jimmy" Wang Yu is used. Good for some laughs if you enjoyed martial arts films at all.
An ode to terrible martial arts films, “Kung Pow: Enter The Fist” is probably a horrible movie, but I’ll never admit it. This was one of my favorite films as a child (second to Kung Fu Hustle), and I remember laughing uproariously. The four stars are purely for the nostalgia.
It's true that a lot of the movie is filler but what's funny is ridiculously funny. It's only 1 of 2 movies I've watched consecutively twice. Then watched the good part 10 x thrice. Have a couple of drinks & watch this flick. It's silly & stupid but so much fun.
Easily one of the best parody movies I've ever watched
One of the worst movies I've ever seen. I saw this when it was at the theater long time ago. I remember everyone else left halfway through the movie. I was the only one that stayed till the end. I should've joined everyone else in leaving early.
If you love stupid comedy this is the holy grail. Timeless quotable gags. Truly an acquired taste needed to enjoy/like this movie. It is one of my all time favorite comedies. It leans on the terrible dubbing quality if kung fu movies of that era and twists it into dumb fun.
9/10 "critics" need to lighten up. This movie is not only funny, it's postmodern art. I guess if a pastiche of the past is also funny, then the so-called experts won't admit it's value.
This is one of the best parody movies of all time. If you haven't seen the movies they're making fun of then yeah you probably won't enjoy it as much. Watch eagles claw and then watch kung pow. Tim Treakle
This movie is a prime example of why movie critics are a useless profession. Even 2 decades later this movie is alive and well. Its played by our local theatre chain every summer and is always packed with new and old. Its a movie made for fun and that seems to be something the critics sold off when they became "professional"
The perfect parody of a genre that was always super self serious. The dedication to detail in the dubbing of the entire audio track twice, the user of actual footage, and even the type of cinematography, all is comedic genius in my book. Maybe too over the top for some, but this one is a favorite of mine growing up watching tons of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. Endless one liners I quote often.
