LaRoy, Texas Reviews

The only change I would make is letting Stacy-Lynn get in the car. Great show. Great twists and turns. You will love this movie.

I really like this movie. It kept me guessing and I was also very drawn into the characters. Anybody who didn't like this movie doesn't appreciate good writing and/or a little bit of dark comedy. Characters were amazing. Plot was easy enough to follow but had good amount of twists to keep you guessing. Coen brothers style for sure. Highly recommend.

A slow-burner that became muddled in the middle and fizzled out in the end.

Steve Zahn makes it, he makes just about every picture he is in. Good writing, very funny in a Fargo kind of way.

Loved this movie, funny at times, keeps gussing you about what's to come.

The unfinished truth. Unfinished in life, finished in death. What a lovely portrait.

Hilarious and intriguing, a true hidden gem that went completely unnoticed. Laroy, Texas reflects similar nuances to “Fargo” and “No Country for Old Men,” with a mix of entertainment, tragic twists, and a touch of melancholic fatalism in the characters, leading us to understand that the outcome could be catastrophic and unpredictable. The film is set in Laroy, Texas, a tiny place where multiple events occur at the same time. Evidently, all these events will intertwine at the end, creating an atmosphere of intrigue and a gloomy environment that surrounds the story and its characters. Strongly influenced by the Coen brothers, this type of plot does not distract us from the fun, even though its dramatic charge is lighter. The plot is established from the first moment and is maintained until the end. Fun, hilarious and slightly melancholic.

A surprising hidden gem!

Enough twists and turns to keep you guessing where this goofy tale is headed.

I don't think most of the critics even watched this movie. It stars out pretty good then as it goes along the story line gets complicated as hell and falls apart. The REAL reviews are with the audience not the so-called critics who probably never saw the movie. To the writers and directors. Keep the story linear and straightforward.

A sequence of events that messes up people's life , paced and directed nicely, resembling a Cohen brothers film. It is a nice story but not nice enough to look twice. Sometimes the atmosphere is very noir and there is some stale attempt to remind us the Fargo franchise. All and all, I'd say watch it.

Unpredicable fun and some blood-letting for color. We loved the quirkiness of it from a story standpoint, and Steve Z. is always worth watching. Fever dream-like, the film draws you in like a spider and weaves a nice web.

You have to have a bit of a slanted sense of humor. My husband and I really liked it but we also liked Pulp Fiction and Fargo. Don't be too serious when you watch this movie.

Awful ending, watched because said 100 percent on rotten tomatoes, don't waste your time

Avoid this movie. I’m not sure where anyone would this was a great movie. Its plot was slightly clever, but the acting was B at best. Scenery and cinematography left much to be desired!

It was similar to the films of the Cohen brothers

Ray's a loser that can't see that his wife is cheating on him with his own brother. Enter Steve Kahn with a not funny role and some shooting and you get LaRoy.

Such a let down. Poorly written story, boring and annoying. Don't believe the rest and fall for the 100% like we did. Complete waste of time.

I saw the title listed on airline entertainment options and was drawn in as a fan of Zahn, an actor I’ve enjoyed in his other limited roles and I feel is underrated. Dark comedy is not my typical genre but I just had to see Zahn play this role. I was immediately drawn in by the first scene which sets the mood for the movie and which I very much enjoyed. There are actually a few actors/actresses that I don’t think ever got their dues for a real role and all are great in this one. The comedy is peppered in, much of which is situational. It reminded me a bit of Cohen Brothers and Fargo-type humor. Stuff you laugh at that would be difficult or embarrassing to explain why you found something funny to someone who hadn’t seen it. Not going to be the epic movie of our time but I’m certainly glad I took the chance on it and would gladly watch it again with someone to see what they think.
