Last Holiday Reviews
Lovely film. People complaining it's illogical and unrealistic, that's part of it. It's a nice story, entertaining all the way through, Queen Latifa was brilliant throughout.
Simple, funny nostalgia movie
Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, a história é fraca, os personagens são fracos, e a queen latifah não foi boa como protagonista nesse filme, e nem as cenas salvaram o filme.
A surprisingly sweet slice-of-life romcom that moves way from the expected clichés and focuses more on making the most of our limited time on earth. Hell, even the characters you assume are going to be stock villain caricatures end up getting redeemed and inspired by Queen Latifah's character. I'd almost say she ends up being a magic n*gro trope, but thankfully the whole focus of the film is her finally making herself happy in what she believes to be her final 3 weeks of life. I love that there's no liar reveal and it's straight up refused when the "reveal" happens. It's not exactly hilarious, but it is inspiring and very, very cozy.
I love this movie... It inspired me to keep reminded of my dreams and act on making them a reality. Life is too short to put things off for later. I love the idea of documenting possibilities in your life. The more you see it, the more that you will want to make it real.
Rewatching Last Holiday reminded me why it’s such a gem, not just a holiday movie but a wake-up call wrapped in charm. Queen Latifah shines as Georgia Byrd, a sweet, timid woman who’s spent her life playing it safe. When she’s hit with life-altering news, she throws caution to the wind and starts living the life she’s always dreamed of. Georgia’s “Book of Possibilities” really struck a chord with me. It’s a quiet reminder that so many of us have our own “books,” filled with dreams we shelve for “someday.” Queen Latifah’s transformation in the movie is so much fun to watch. Add Gérard Depardieu as a quirky chef, stunning European backdrops, and mouthwatering food, and it’s the perfect mix of heart and humor. The message is simple but timeless: take risks, cherish the now, and live fully. Watching it again makes me want my own “Book of Realities,” a little nudge to embrace life with Georgia’s boldness.
I feel sorry for the people who can't just have some fun with the natural joy that Latifah exudes. A simple fantasy romp in the alps. Quite a stretch of course but it's fun to watch. Found myself laughing at her antics and honest reflection.
This little gem of a film has a great story, a wonderfully strong cast and leaves you happy. Perhaps there are more artistic films, but this one is has beautiful scenery, music, and dialogue and does not fall back on foul language, soft porn (although there is some pretty awesome food), nor pyrotechnics/wild cgi. I 100% recommend this movie, and will watch it again.
It's a cute movie. Nothing ground-breaking or Oscar-deserving, but that's not the intention of this movie. You'll have a smile on your face more often than not, and some scenes are pretty memorable. Overall, it's a light movie to remind you that life doesn't have to mean working all the time.
It's feel-good movie that you can't go wrong with! Sometimes you just want to watch a movie about the little guy winning :D
Queen Latifah enjoys herself in the well-meaning endeavor that lost its edge once becoming obviously predictable in a tiresomely cheesy manner. (B-)
Com férias da minha vida a risada é garantida, uma dose perfeita de comida ,comédia e manteiga 🤫
I loved the message of the movie and it was really funny and heart-warming! The first half of the movie takes a bit to pick up, but the second half where Georgia is staying at the hotel and meeting the bourgeoisie is a whole lot of fun!
Is Last Holiday a Christmas movie? I'm not convinced it is. It spends more time celebrating New Year's Eve than it does Christmas, and the holidays seem to have very little to do with the plot. Nevertheless, it's an enjoyable movie. It's fairly ridiculous in parts, but Queen Latifah plays a likeable character, so I was willing to forgive a few of the eye-rolling moments. So while I still don't quite understand why Last Holiday keeps popping up on lists of the greatest Christmas movies of all time, I didn't mind watching it. And I think there are some lessons to be learned from the overall message.
A great feel good film. Queen Latifah takes us with her on her Last Holiday, smiles on our faces. Nice for the holidays, too.
In fact, there are few films that teach you to love life. Achieving peace and love is a dime a dozen, but the films that instill in us a love for life can be counted on one hand. This is exactly the film 'The Last Holiday'. It tells the story of a woman who can't lift her head because of her job, she has a 'wish diary', but she has no family and doesn't even know how to attract the attention of her loved one. And then she finds out that she will soon die... Of course, well aware that her life is worthless, she begins to fulfill her dreams... The inimitable Queen Latifah played this role perfectly, for which she has great respect! The film turned out to be romantic, beautiful, and despite all the tragedy of the plot, it was very funny! After watching this film, I realized that you need to fulfill all your dreams, no matter what happens, never give up and always believe in yourself and your capabilities! The film turned out to be very lively and interesting. I recommend it for home viewing! Thanks to Wayne Wang and the entire film crew!
Movie you could watch over an over again. 🍿 Good storyline with an outstanding cast to play every part with there own personal touch. Overall excellent performance by all the actors. Definitely a must see.
Beginning of the film gave a feeling of the plot filled with clumsiness and misfortune. After watching the movie, there were good surprises with Queen Latifah's character. Someone who was poor in wealth, but not in heart is a good message that brings the movie back to harmony. The adventures she gets to do are filled with challenges, yet she did not care the difficulties. Timothy Hutton did a fine job in being a character that I would hate to see. There could be more climax involved but nonetheless it is a fair film that had its good points to consider.
I love this movie, it's just my taste. It makes me feel good and happy
Very good story. Entertaining
