Life After Beth Reviews
Interesting and funny for the first hour, then it all fell apart. Aubrey Plaza was excellent up to that point. Why so little of Anna Kendrick?
A fine cast is completely wasted in this poorly written and directed zombie pile of poop. I thought A24 used to release good films, but that was then. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE...
A tv skit stretched out to movie length. Horrible cast. Decent directing with poor actors to work with. Aubrey Plastered should give up acting and go to the circus. Her manic performances would do well there.
Better than the reviews would suggest. Plaza is excellent, DeHaan is very good and the rest of the cast are capable if underutilized. Anna Kendrick’s character seemed like an afterthought and a little pointless to me. I enjoyed it.
Absolutely terrible movie there is no point to it good actors but bad acting
Such an odd but fun movie that should be treated as such. An unreal cast stacked with talent. Cameos from the great Anna Kendrick and from Cheryl Heinz. Paul Reiser had some funny lines in a limited role. John C Reilly is great in everything but Aubrey Plaza absolutely kills in this role. She steals every scene. Why these zombies start coming around isn't explained, we don't see Beth die at the start which is also weird and we didn't see the couple together at any point so we had to assume he loved her to justify his crazy antics which makes little sense since it was the point in the movie. It also felt a little stretched that I wasn't sure where further they could go with it. Still it was entertaining and I had a couple genuine laugh out loud moments with Plaza. Had they addressed these things this would be a gem. Still entertaining and very worth a watch.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
Turned it off with 20 minutes to go. I couldn't take it anymore.
Surprising plot; now what I was expecting. Aubrey Plaza - utterly convincing.
Surprisingly liked this movie, especially after reading the reviews for it. A good message about unhealthy relationships, a good cast of characters, and a comedy drama about the undead.
I really wanted this to do something for me, I went 5 eps deep. Naw.
In an extremely crowded genre, this movie tries to step out from the crowd but stumbles not too far into proceedings despite Plaza's best efforts.
Aubrey Plaza is such an underated actress. An incredible performance for this movie
En ningún momento definió lo que quería ser, le falta gracia para ser comedia, emotividad para ser drama, susto y gore para ser de terror. Todos los personajes me resultaron insoportables excepto Beth, que por lo menos tenia la excusa de estar muerta.
If you are after something in the horror genre that is silly and short (and free…), this is not a complete waste of time.
Probably one of the weirdest zombie movies that deals with love and the idea letting go of someone you love left a lasting impression on me.
Seeing as so many zombie movies come across as low hanging fruit, they're pretty easy to slag, justifiably so in many cases. Life After Beth, however, while far from perfect, is certainly entertaining and has more than its fair share of uncomfortable laughs. Mourning the death of his girlfriend Beth (Aubrey Plaza), Zach (Dane DeHaan) is pleasantly surprised to discover that she has risen from the dead. However, his positive attitude begins to waiver when she starts developing an insatiable appetite, begins to exhibit supernatural strength, and starts listening to smooth jazz. Plaza is fantastic as the deadpan, bewildered zombie, Molly Shannon and John C. Reilly are great as the parents in denial, and there is plenty of clever dialogue throughout to hold the viewer's attention. Things begin to spiral out of control a bit when the zombie apocalypse arrives, but it's still a lot of fun if you don't take it too seriously.
Life After Beth is one of those films that you can throw on in the background if you're simply looking to pass some time and still manage to get a chuckle or even a tear out of it. Aubrey Plaza (as well as the rest of the cast) is clearly having a blast with their roles and that simply flows through the audience making Life After Beth a pretty enjoyable experience! It's different and brings something new to the now everyday zombie film that we have all come to expect from the horror subgenre. Life After Beth isn't a blockbuster classic and it knows it, as the viewer you should simply turn off our brain and enjoy the amounts of fun that Life After Beth has to offer as the crazy film that it is!
A lovely film. Not quite sure why this gets ranked so low everywhere, it's quirky and weird and entertaining and much better than most of the comparable horror comedies out there. If you're into Parks&Rec and Aubrey Plaza's character in particular, I think you're going to like this one!
