A tale of a young girl's close encounter with the galaxy's most wanted extraterrestrial. Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts a small ugly "dog," whom she names Stitch. Stitch would be the perfect pet if he weren't in reality a genetic experiment who has escaped from an alien planet and crash-landed on Earth. Through her love, faith and unwavering belief in ohana, the Hawaiian concept of family, Lilo helps unlock Stitch's heart and gives him the ability to care for someone else.

Nell Minow Common Sense Media Cute story, great characters, fabulous soundtrack. Rated: 4/5 Dec 25, 2010 Full Review Ted Shen Chicago Reader Smart, poignant, and utterly beguiling. Nov 16, 2009 Full Review Richard Corliss TIME Magazine It's a bright, engaging bauble with half a dozen Elvis Presley songs for Mom and Dad, and just enough sass -- Stitch sticks his tongue into his nose and eats his snot -- to keep the tweeners giggling. Sep 2, 2008 Full Review Allison Rose FlickDirect The heart of Lilo & Stitch is Ohana—a touching reminder that family isn't always about blood, but about love, loyalty, and those who choose to stay. Rated: 5/5 May 6, 2025 Full Review Yasser Medina Cinefilia It's a Disney film that finds an acceptable tone with its traditional animation style, but unfortunately often treads on familiar clichés that take away the charm of its tropical fable about sisterhood, family, and aliens. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 6/10 Apr 19, 2025 Full Review Carson Timar ButteredPopcorn There is no doubt that Lilo & Stitch is a masterpiece. With some of the best character work ever seen in animation, a fantastic cast, and a real emotional core, the film is everything one could want in a film. Jan 23, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Kayleigh S I am obsessed with Lilo and stitch 😍 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/17/25 Full Review Mitchell S Still as fresh as it was 23 years ago. You already have the gorgeous Chris Sanders art style. But beneath that is a heartwarming story and lovable characters. The live-action will NOT even equal a sliver of this masterpiece! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/15/25 Full Review Gareth D Excellent, sharp, edgy for a disney movie, quite funny, enjoyed the Elvis music and emotionally felt it was a strong arc. Snappy runtime too, looking forward to the live action. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/13/25 Full Review Matthew D Disney remembers belonging to a family. Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois’ animated sci-fi comedy Lilo & Stitch (2002) is a sweet family film that holds up nicely. Sanders and DeBlois’ direction is quick paced for a cool 85 minutes. Sanders’ voice for Stitch is so funny and memorable. I love Sanders’ story about a hybrid alien coming to Earth and learning to love his new unusual family. It’s a tender reminder that Disney cares about family narrative on the importance of belonging and acceptance. Darren T. Holmes’ editing is so quick with steady cuts that let you live in Hawaii in each scene for a bit. Alan Silvestri’s score is beautiful with wonderful swells of melodic bliss. Disney’s hand drawn animation is very pretty, especially for all the surfing on the water. Paul A. Felix makes Hawaii look like home with a cozy aesthetic. Daveigh Chase is great as Lilo, but her bratty attitude can get a bit annoying. She makes the movie a bit too childish for my taste at times. Tia Carrere is excellent as Lilo’s older sister Nani. She’s sympathetic and lovely as a woman trying to keep her sister in her custody and hold down a job. Nani is a great Disney character for her endearing situation and attitude. David Ogden Stiers is funny as the alien Dr. Jumba Jookiba with his Russian accent. Kevin McDonald is hilarious as the squeaky voiced Pleakley. Ving Rhames is funny as the stern child protective services agent Cobra Bubbles. Kevin Michael Richardson is fun as the imposing Captain Gantu. I have to mention Jason Scott Lee is as nice and friendly as David Kawena as he always sounds. I can see why Lilo & Stitch was such a smash hit from my childhood. Lilo & Stitch is cute, funny, and emotional in all the right ways. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/10/25 Full Review Stephen C LOL, humor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/09/25 Full Review L8ton R Man, if only Disney made something on the same level of quality as this masterpiece nowadays…. Other than that, I love this movie to bits. Lilo and Stitch work as fantastic protagonists for the movie. Their dynamics bouncing off of each other is fun and their developments along with Nani’s are downright tearjerking. The animation in this particularly stands out amongst Disney’s other 2D classics. The vibrant water coloured backgrounds and the uses of cel shaded CGI work exceptionally well. Speaking of the latter: I love it when 2D animated movies or shows have such clever uses for CGI that blend into the shot of a scene. The soundtrack as well is also really nice to listen to. Whether it’s the uses of Elvis Presley’s music or the original songs such as ‘Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride’ help make this movie feel all the more enjoyable to watch. I plan on watching the rest of the franchise, and judging by how beautiful this first instalment turned out to be, I’ll be looking forward for whatever lies next for Lilo and Stitch. And I can 100% guarantee you, that I’ll never watch that god awful looking live action remake when it comes out. Not in theatres, not on Disney+, just no. I won’t do it. You can’t force me to watch the remake. I-I just won’t! Never! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/07/25 Full Review Read all reviews
