Little Ashes Reviews
It was the next Rob Pattison's movie to see on my list, and now, after seeing it, I am obsessed with Lorca/Dali love/deep-friendship/whatever-it-was story (I intend to study the matter). Since high-school I found Dali and his art fascinating; now I want to know more about Lorca ... because of this movie. To the american critics who found the movie unworthy: you should get out of US more, go to Europe, broaden your horizon. US/commercialism is clouding your minds. Also, some of you picked on Rob's performance ... now, 12 years later, he proved you WRONG. He is an amazing, complicated, and complex actor - his name is on everybody's lips ... meanwhile, nobody knows you names. FIVE STARS!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
A cursory homoseuxal romance of renowned Spanish poet Federico García Lorca and surrealist Salvador Dalí that is redeemed by luscious cinematography and a free-swinging performance from Robert Pattison.
Cute film that kept me wondering what was going to happen next. Shot very well, the actors do an excellent job. I want to find out even more than just this story now.
Its a film more about the history of Dali and Lorca than a cinematic engaging experience. The film lacks any dramatic impact but you do learn about these two great artists. The last half hour is very laughable when Dali has is moustache he looks ten years old, the make up team didn't do a very good job here, shame cos the ending would of been powerful.
Boredom leads to tedium culminating in a spectacularly flat final scene. Whatever your feelings on Dali, he was never this dull.
i really only watched this movie because i wanted to see how r.patts was as an actor in other than twilight & it turns out he really has talent & this movie is great! its so sad but its really worth the watch!
An interesting biography film of sorts, the performances were solid, the story engaging and interesting and there were some beautifully filmed scenes, particularly the night swimming one.
Terrible. Sorry, Rochelle, but I didn't like it. I love those guys, but I thought the movie didn't do that time period or relationships justice.
Uma grande estória soterrada em filme. Os cenários opacos e sem vida abrigam um elenco grosseiro, a narrativa maçante faz o tempo andar devagar, o final parece nunca chegar.
This is a funny little film, ponderous in places but generally uncertain and underwhelming. Pattinson is excellent in going from shy to erratic though his accent wavers (indeed, having Spanish actors speaking broken English doesn't help either). Interesting take on the biopic and historical drama, though the elements don't quite match up. It's good, if a bit wobbly in the middle.
'Little Ashes' follows the (at the time illegal) romance between famed painter Dali and poet Lorca. Dali is the main protaginist being portrayed by Robert Pattinson, who does a very good job despite the occasional lapse in his accent and proves that Twilight isn't his only role. The story is well scripted with mostly good dialogue which sometimes is lost in the muddle of other noises and occasionally just becomes unhearable. The music however fits nicely and although doesn't boost the film still makes a fine addition. The mise-en-scene in the film is very nice to look at despite one scene which I'm almost positive was a greenscreen, apart from that everything was beautifully shot amd framed in such a way that not only shows of the actors but the scenery. Overall, not a great film but an enjoyayble one, it could of done with being 10 minutes shorter as it seemed like some moments were crammed in but for the most part it's an interesting insight into Dali.
