Liyana Reviews
an outstanding work of art, if Chinua Achebe was a filmmaker, his work would have looked exactly like Liyana.
Heartwarming and touching. Should be included in mandatory middle - high school curriculum.
Liyana is one of those rare films that you can't put your finger on because is it a cartoon, live action, a documentary, a fictional story, is it meant for kids, or adults, do I laugh, or cry... And it is everything, and so much more. Set in the beautiful country of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), the orphaned children build and transform their story of Liyana in ways the imagination and those with deep, challenging lives only can. The cinematoghraphy, the animations, the storytelling, and the precious, amazing children all make it a must see film.
Really different and brilliant. I love how the story comes from the perspective of the kids and then is woven with the animation. Great film for the whole family looking at adversity and creativity - Well done
Just saw this at the Sedona Film Festival. It is a wonderful movie that combines a heart rendering documentary about children in an orphanage in Swaziland with an animated quest like fable from the imagination of the children
