Logan Lucky Reviews

In many ways Soderbergh is spoofing his own “Ocean’s” trilogy and has a lot of fun doing it. You can’t help but notice similarities in the two story structures, but “Logan Lucky” adds its own unique twist and is by far the broader comedy.

| Original Score: 4/5 | Aug 23, 2022

It's funny, it's fun, it's incredibly well acted and Soderbergh creates a really immaculate atmosphere around the characters. A really enjoyable movie. [Full review in Spanish]

Logan Lucky doesn’t crackle like some of Soderbergh’s previous heist films, ... but it does operate with the kind of low hum of an expertly crafted engine.

| Jun 21, 2022

Logan Lucky has been given Soderbergh's dependable, accessible, but also perceptive touch.

| Original Score: 3.5/4 | Mar 22, 2022

Logan Lucky is both a portrait of working-class America and a clever bit of wish-fulfillment in which a fundamentally broken but self-perpetuating system is put in its place to the benefit of those in need.

Thoroughly satisfying popcorn fodder.

[Channing Tatum and Adam Driver] show impeccable comedy chops in this hilarious heist caper. But Daniel Craig is the MVP, with a performance that has to be seen to be believed.

Soderbergh is perhaps the starkest example of the contemporary non-committal filmmaker, someone unable or unwilling to adopt an important stance toward political and historical questions.

It would have been far more entertaining if the line "Based on a true story" had opened the picture.

| Original Score: 6/10 | Dec 5, 2020

Logan Lucky represents a welcomed return for Steven Soderbergh.

| Original Score: 4/5 | Aug 26, 2020

Soderbergh knows how to develop good characters and maximise the talent at his disposal. Logan Lucky is a brilliant example of just that. [Full review in Spanish]

Soderbergh's prowess has devised a heist film that is enjoyed until the credits end. [Full review in Spanish]

Easily one of the funniest things you'll see this year, but it moves so far beyond simply trying to make us laugh that you may have to watch it a few times to understand how beautifully subversive Soderbergh is in fleshing out his characters.

| May 12, 2020

Logan Lucky blends humor as well as excitement, sans the edginess you may expect in a Soderbergh picture.

| Mar 27, 2020

The story itself doesn't matter, and in fact, has never really mattered. It's all about how the story is told. Here, we have a cheerful and frequently funny caper that feels like a tall tale told among friends having a few drinks.

It probably goes without saying that the photography and editing are beyond reproach, but I'm going to say it anyway. Logan Lucky is a ruthlessly designed and executed entertainment machine, but its obvious virtues may obscure its depth.

Along with the amusing characters and straightforward plot, Logan Lucky is pure entertainment.

| Original Score: 4/5 | Nov 12, 2019

Don't examine the plot to terribly closely, just enjoy the hammy accents, the celebration of family, the clever plot twists, and the unexpected casting.

| Original Score: B+ | Oct 18, 2019

Logan Lucky leaves you on the edge of your seat in anticipation, eager to discover what outcome or comedic antic is around the next left turn.
