Lower City Reviews
Entertainment that uses a structure already stereotypically used in several novels, with a simple and predictable trajectory, with situations that should say/report something but don't, with any Soundtrack and not even a memorable Photograph, which in the long 100 minutes “ lives” abusing and using the theatrical quality of its protagonists to “hold the bar”, not only in the exceptional interpretation but also in the beauty of its nuances or naked body, all to narrate the “tale of the ménage” that takes place in the lower city.
uma amizade é colocada a prova com a chegada de uma paixão improvável, um bom filme com um final insuficiente.

Expected much more from it as the story was depicted quite powerfully and went on well...till the ending came suddenly which totally lacked completion ...don't know if that was the idea or the writer/director ran out of ideas
Beautifully shot beautiful people having beautiful sex and sometimes indulging in beautiful violence. And that is all it needs to be.
a reality of the city where i grew up that i've never seen.. and it was kind of porn.. well, not reeally but with a lot of spicy scenes.. excellent actors!!
A classic storyline wonderfully represented in the murky world of surviving daily life in Brazil. It's an emotional ride throughout, but one that has an ending that feels too loose.
bros before hoes, epic fail. suberb slow paced hustle flick, with great chemistry and alice braga being all sexy.
A love-triangle involving two petty-criminal bestfriends (one of whom is a boxer) and a pregnant prostitute. Never going to end well is it? An interesting look at the Brazillian underworld, with naturalistic, understated performances by the three leads. Lots of sex and violence but not gratuitous.
Not enough development to support the actions of the characters, but this has some very nice camera work and acting. There are some particular scenes that jump off the screen, and others that seem disjunct and confused. Overall, enjoyable enough.
Very disappointing. It had such a great cast, but it felt that their hearts weren't into it. I can't blame them, script wasn't that good.
