Anton Bitel Sight & Sound the film remains equivocal as to whether Roger's outer-space excursion is an audacious endeavour in the service of earthly affairs, or an irresponsible evasion of them. Jan 5, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Laura-ann B Give this story a remake on a bigger budget. It has such great potential. The fact that such a low budget production, with so many scientific errors that could have been avoided, actually kept my attention for almost 2h says alot. There's something there. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/25 Full Review Martina H An astronaut is to fly into space alone to investigate the origin of three mysterious signals in order to prove the existence of extraterrestrial life within our solar system. On the one hand, he faces the problem of having to leave his wife behind for ten years and, on the other, the Chinese also launch a mission. The story is illogical in some places, the set design shows that the movie had a low budget, and yet it entertained me very well. The actors gave a solid performance, the story was interesting despite the logical flaws and I can therefore award 3.5 stars with a clear conscience. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/25 Full Review My Web M I could have handled the low budget aspects (of which there were many), I could suspend disbelief regarding some of the garbage science and unbelievable behavior by characters, but the ending is unforgiveable. I've read this movie was intended to explore the psychology of a solo mission but that doesn't really happen either. The main character makes decisions from day one that make no sense for someone who would have been in that position. There was a good idea here, but it seems to have gotten left on the launch pad when the makers blasted off. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/25 Full Review Phi S Magellan proves that $2,465.00 can get you into the digital space known as streaming cinema! Magellan did it with just enough to pay the cast for 3 days worth of work(acting, if that's what you call it) and kraft services that saw the likes of Hot Pockets on the set for the crew of this slovenly work of art! The under $3,000.00 budget makes itself evident in all the blank, white surfaces behind the actor in his space craft, where there should have been massive tiers of instrumentation! His cheap cotton suit that doesn't connect under his neck with his helmet, also advertises the shallowness of the production value of this 'Dick & Jane Go To Space' production. See Dick journey, journey Dick journey! You get the gist of what I'm saying here; if they didn't spend a nickel on the production values for this home video(that's it in a nut shell) you can bet the script was the product of a writing competition at the local high school, where the winner was promised a title credit. Oh - there it goes, flashing by at the end, among the two lines of credits: Screenplay by Billy Myers of Mrs. York's remedial English composition class! Well done, Billy! I spent ten minutes watching this, uh, ahem...movie, while hitting the fast forward button repeatedly, until finally relegating judgement of the film to Rotten Tomatoes, where I found 1(count it) critic review of the work and a plethora of audience reviews warning me not to waste my time. So there you have it folks; an audience review that is more entertaining than the film itself! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/25 Full Review Rob M A cheaply made movie that is boring to watch. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/25 Full Review Tim S Somewhat unique, but slow and fairly meaningless. It scratches at something big, but never achieves anything but enigma and loss. His scientific curiosity is barely understandable; his lack of love and responsibility to his wife, inexcusable. Beyond unbelievable, scientifically, logistically, and ethically. A dream completely unrealized. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
