Manodrome Reviews
Wanna watch Eisenberg meltdown in a lot of different scenarios? Wanna get slightly depressed? This movie is for you.
This movie is an awesome reflection of how libertarians actually are and what they look like. Literally a cult.
Is one of worst movies! Roten tomatoes in the head!
From lex luthor to an insecure man taking a bbc up his ass. What a giant step forward. The first part of the movie was fine, until the protagonist changed direction completely. The manodrome cult was interesting.
Manodrome is a 2023 drama thriller film written and directed by John Trengove π§ββοΈ Meh, it passed the time. Just. π ππΌππΌ Ralphie is an Uber driver and aspiring bodybuilder who is inducted into a libertarian masculinity cult and loses his grip on reality when his repressed desires are awakened
It was a good movie. Super suspenseful and crazy. The acting was amazing! Love the 2 kids who played son Drew and son Paul in the movie.
Not my cup of coffee
Surprised to see such negative reviews. This was a totally original story with strong acting from Brody and others, and excellent acting from Eisenberg. The plot was a bit fantastic with sharp turns, and many characters were relatively undeveloped, but there were no slow points. Plot just tears along, which is refreshing. Ending is crazy as well with some twists. I have no complaints. movie should be at least a 7/10 for non-boring-ness, fast pace, and strong acting.
This movie was not what I expected from the lead actor. It seems like the actor went to a place not meant for him. Don't get me wrong, the movie was intense and perhaps it was the violent intensity that turned me off. There seemed to be no basis of what the film is actually about. I'm all about caring for those with mental health issues, but, this kind lacked any explanation except from the last character who coddled the killer and we were left to figure that he turned him in to the police. Meh
Underrated but need fair acceptance. This tells exactly what happens when a confused sole meets the wrong people and it's consequences.
Eisenberg incearca dar nu are cu ce
Not bad. Love these movies where the character just falls deeper into oblivion. I never liked Eisenbergs monotone, lifeless acting, but he finally does a great job in this. The re are some super weird things in this that take it down a few notches
Eisenberg was amazing in this incredibly engaging film.
Brilliant performances and beautifully shot. Definitely worth a watch.
Manodrome is an entertaining take on the toxic masculinity. Jesse Eisenberg alongside Adrien Brody and Odessa Young deliver stellar performances, though, the movie takes so many wild turns by the end, it loses some credibility and could even make you laugh, like it did for me. The idea was there, and the direction was also promising. For the first half of the movie, I could feel what Ralphie, the main character, was going through. The frustration was crystal clear, and Jesse fantastically portrayed a person trying to handle it by himself. Yet, at one point, the density of dramatic scenes and explosive, reckless actions taken by him turned out to just be too much. Although I must say, while Manodrome didn't exactly work for me, it kept me engaged until the end, thanks to a stellar mix of great acting, music, and cold, almost raw shots. On top of that, it's a movie that provoked the most different reactions to it. I experienced it at a movie festival in Wroclaw, and during the whole event, no other film sparked so many different opinions. That is why, even though I felt it was decent personally, I think it should be seen if you have the chance.
This story was quick paced and Very unpredictable. Not one of my favorite films but worth a watch. It leaves you with a lot to talk and think about after the credits roll. A day later and I am still not sure of what to make of it all.
This movie didn't really make any sense at all. Shame as it had decent actors
This movie is nothing but thinly-veiled propaganda and poorly made cinema. For example, multiple places where I've seen synopses of it claim Eisenberg is "inducted into a libertarian masculinity cult." It's like they came up with the idea for the film based on filling in a political Mad Libs. The plot is basically taking, for example, Fight Club and infusing it with a very vocal but societally miniscule modern far-right, insecure, wannabe hyper-masculine subculture. And the thought that something like this has anything to do with libertarian ideology is laughable, and written by a guy who knows very little about libertarianism. He probably incorrectly believes that libertarians are Republicans in the same asinine way that conservatives think Joe Biden is a Communist. Eisenberg, Brody, Suplee, etc., do their best with what they're given. Unfortunately, what their given script-wise isn't of very high quality. Surprisingly, Eisenberg does very well with his character and actually plays quite differently than he does in 99% of his other movies, where he disastrously almost always comes across as hyperactive, neurotic, and rambling. The only praise this movie can get is if it inspires him to branch out character-wise like this and explore different methods of acting than what we expect from him (e.g., Zombieland, Adventure Land, Batman v Superman, The Social Network, Now You See Me, etc.). He could become more than a one-trick pony as an actor. If you've seen the trailer, stop there. It's more interesting than the film itself.
Ok so I got a chance to see this movie and it wasn't bad. Critics alway waffle on films like this. I think it was great! Keep pushing team!
