Lucie e Anna crescem em um orfanato e se tornam amigas lá. Lucie havia escapado de um lugar onde ela dizia que havia sido torturada por monstros. As duas crescem e passam a se dedicar a caçar as pessoas que fizeram mal a Lucie. Remake de um filme de 2008, que não assisti, então não farei comparações com o original. O filme é cheio de reviravoltas e mudanças de tom. Começa com uma espécie de suspense para descobrir quem são os monstros de Lucie. Depois se torna uma espécie de slasher movie, com a sequência na casa da família do fazendeiro, até uma nova reviravolta e a solução do mistério do filme. Percebe-se que o filme quer ser mais sangrento que o que está mostrando e isso acaba tirando um pouco a força do filme. As atrizes principais estão muito bem, com a questão da obsessão de Lucie se intrometer na amizade das duas, deixando Anna muitas vezes sem saber o que fazer. A resolução do filme é muito rápida, levando a questionar o porque que as duas amigas não escaparam com mais facilidade. É um bom filme, que poderia render mais, mas serve muito bem para uma noite de filmes de terror.

Remake of the French film of the same name, came on immediately after the original and while I knew the title was the same I was surprised to learn it was a remake. It being in english was good but the improvements stopped there, far less effective than the predecessor, much fewer twists, and less shockingly brutal.

An American cash grab version of a masterpiece that entirely missed the point of the original. I wish I had never watched this one as it now soils my view of the original.

Bad acting, didn't get the same feeling at all. Original was so much better. Before Lucie kills the family you don't even have the vibe that she is scared and traumatized. Don't watch this movie!

The original was perfect, Hollywood needs to end the remakes. Especially of perfect movies that aren't even old enough yet to warrant even trying to recapture that lighting in a bottle. Please stop it.

Mistakenly rented this piece of trash thinking it was the 2008 original. What a waste of time.

As if trying to get revenge on the people that tortured you isn't enough - this movie tries to weave in some experimentation and the ability to see to the 'other side'. Definitely biting off much more than it could chew

There is no reason for this movie to exist. Not only is the original really beloved and respected by many, but the way it depicts its story can be pretty controversial and overly graphic for today's audience. Taking that into account, not only are the visual aspects toned down, but the story itself is extremely generic and predictable. I think the bright spots could be the soundtrack and some of the acting that was not terrible, but everything else is just terrible. The camera work is so amateur it takes away from the suspense of the film and it makes what is happening on screen unwatchable. However, my biggest issue with this film is the way they decided to change the story. Instead of being a critic on the human race and their desire for knowledge as well as a tale of the dehumanization of martyrs, this remake lacks any of the emotional impact and themes that were presented in the original, and rather depicts a shallow plot. DO NOT go near this movie D-

Please Please Please WATCH the original 2008 French Film 🎞 This Version is actually not bad but the trick with the original was that it wasn’t all spelled out for you. This remake takes a slight turn from the Original. Absolutely not as Graphic and Horrifying as the French Film.

At first dull and silly, becomes sick, twisted and disgusting! Martyrs is solid even if it's not entirely enjoyable.

Genuinely horrifying as well as very gripping. Passes up a lot of opportunities to have been much more gory to the advantage of the story. Nice to see a film centring on the friendship between two women without sapphic titillation.

A watered down, butchered version of the original film. The acting too was atrocious.

Not the worst horror flick, but if you've seen the original which is only a few years earlier than this it will feel inferior, but on its own maybe not.

A completely butchered remake, the original beauty and horror were gone in this slasher-like remake. The horror was tone down by a mile, the shock and twists were gone, stop copying and start making your own films with fresh ideas!
