Martyrs Lane Reviews
This is less of a horror and more of a supernatural drama. It's an old-fashioned ghost story where the supernatural part is eclipsed by the family drama.
É um bom filme, nada especial, já temos filmes parecidos por aí. Mas passa o tempo.
Indeed, the movie treads very familiar territory. It does it VERY effectively, though, and in the process brings out amazing performances from all involved, ESPECIALLY the kids.
It was slow at first but I really liked the little girl (great acting) and my heart aches at the end of the movie.
Overall, as slow-burning horror, Martyrs Lane is quite pleasing. The film introduces an interesting story with many mysteries before concluding with an unpredictable finale. The children's performances here are great and convincing. The atmosphere throughout is dark and spooky and, again, pleasing. It's been a while since movie lovers were greeted with a fun ghosty tale, and this certainly feels refreshing as the credits rolled.
Slow burn horror movie reminding us that nothing is what it seems. The message is simple but meaningful: the absence of maternal love can be traumatic to the point of forcing a child to look for answers in the darkest places.
A little angel's story.
It was a decent horror movie but it was a bit too complicated for a horror movie half-watcher like me. I liked the cast as well but the angel girl was better than the leading girl Leah.
I didn't finish the movie and yes it's not my cup of tea. But I read some spoilers and I really love the story and how the director handled well the young artists. 😊 AND ALSO, DO NOT PUT HORROR GENRE IF IT WERE ALL A DRAMA! PSYCHO!😡
Martyrs Lane is slow and incoherent but a couple of solid performances by its young leads makes it worth watching.
You've seen the type before...the gone girl giving clues to her identity. This plot has some depth with a grieving mom and hurting family. But the youngest of the group doesn't find out the truth until she discover's her sister's story for herself.
meh; this was an alright watch, but I wasn't really impressed with anything. there are some pretty good scenes, but after you figure out the reason for everything it's really just quite stupid. the mom is infuriating. i wouldn't recommend this one.
Well, I was surprised on this one, as I had high expectations given the critic reviews. The only thing I thought the film was effective at was it's creepiness. It has that down pat. I didn't appreciate much of the camerawork, the film isn't particularly pleasant to look at, and it suffers from a lack of music. I love silence in horror, but I love a good soundtrack as well. This film more than anything felt like a waste of time. I love a good slow burn, but this was so terribly slow. It was hard to connect to the characters or the story for a good part of the film. From the first time "ghost girl" appears, it is quite obvious who she is. This film is very predictable. It could have still been a powerful film about grief and moving on and love, but it decided instead to go another direction and the film can't help but feel heartless and cold and without meaning or purpose. Not sure why the filmmaker bothered making and I want my hour and forty minutes back.
