Our story begins like all good New York rom-coms: with a montage and a voiceover from Jason, who grew up watching romantic comedies with his family and longs to see an Asian lead who looks like him. His meet cute with Nora, an aspiring architect, leads to their casting in a viral dating app commercial, where their on-screen chemistry captivates viewers citywide and sparks genuine feelings between them. Inspired by this unexpected romance, Jason writes a script based on their burgeoning relationship. The film unfolds through the lens of Jason pitching the script, creating a rom-com within a rom-com as the executives listening to his pitch find themselves falling in love as well.

I loved it!! This movie was such a fun, refreshing take on a rom-com, with just the right amounts of depth and brevity. The sets and production design really hit the mark for each scene, giving you insight into the world of each character. This one definitely warrants a re-watch, it's one of those movies where you know you will find something new each time!

I laughed so many times at this beautifully directed rom-com (especially at Amanda Shi's facial expressions!). The acting is superb all around and I was blown away by the many quick shifts from deep emotion to humor. Having lived in New York for a decade, it really brought me back to the romance and dreams of the big city. Huge congrats to Karen Morey on her brilliant directorial debut and to Terrence Chen on his incredible performance.
