Megalopolis Reviews
Walked out but still found elements of it. Fascinating. Wished I had stayed to the end after a day or two.
I've whitenesses every Coppola film going back to Finian's Rainbow (remake). I have THX1138 on DVD. I wrote a term paper on Coppola's style... FFC is one of my all time favorites. This film is self-indulgent garbage. Possibly the worst Coppola film I've seen. Way way worse than GF-3, even GF-3 Coda. 2 stars because it's FFC..., it'd be 1 if anyone else. 3 hrs of my life I cannot get back. Awful, garbage, dredful.
And this was an incredibly fun, over-the-top movie. It received the loudest ovation from the audience that I've heard this decade.
Fantastic, everything looked like a Dolce & Gabbana commercial. Acting was stellar including writing, 30 years truly paid off.
Watched it to support a large budget original non superhero movie, which may also be the last film from Francis ford Coppola. Interesting concept but it just didn’t come together.
C,onfusing. weird. disjointed. and not in the good David Lynch kind of way.
If you take six shots and go in to watch this movie right afterwards, you’ll have a fantastic experience like mine
i walked out like an hour into it. Aubrey Plaza was most of the reason I stuck around for as long as I even did.
beautiful fable completely unreal and very true probably not for everyone
Did not understand the plot of the movie.
It was basic. It took overacting to new levels. It had some half baked Wes Anderson attempts. The plot was unenlightening. The best part of the film was leaving.
FFC took the worst parts of wes anderson, the cohen bros and shakespear, bundled them into a bad 70s psychedelic movie and hoped it would prove a political point. fun night of looking at my watch to see how much time was left
One of the worst films I’ve ever seen. Did not enjoy a single minute of this. Nothing about this was appealing at all. Honestly, not worth 2+ hours of your time.
Ever since The Godfather, no one has ever made up their minds about a Francis Ford Coppola film at first viewing. Godfather II, The Conversation, Apocalypse Now, One From The Heart, Godfather III, and now Megalopolis: anyone who says they loved them or hated it at first glance is only fooling themselves. (The only Coppola movie that everyone hated at first sight was Finian's Rainbow.) I liked this movie a lot, and it gave me a lot to think about as well. I'll wait a while and see it again, and see if it holds up. I recommend everyone see it at least once, knowing full well that at least half of you will hate it. Of course you will — it's a Coppola movie!
Very thought-provoking
The performances were great. 100M in special effects added little to the story. Rich guy has a dream to turn Central Park into an art installation. Not sure how that's supposed to solve all the city's problems.
This film kept switching its motif which made it hard to watch. Too much of art film without a solid story moving forward
A horrific mess from start to finish... maybe see it so you can get some entertainment from the well written negative reviews!
Good visuals and interesting technical aspects. But plot is a mess and there's too much wooden dialogue. Both unintentionally funny and painfully boring at various times. Bloated and indulgent. Hard to understand what this movie is about. Look out for thy fellow man, be compassionate and generous, honor family.
Absolutely horrible. Made no sense even in the first 10 minutes. It made no sense . Group of 4 . We all thought it was so bad I wish I could give it a zero stars . We walked out after 15 minutes along with about 7 other people who also walked out and got a refund and decided to watch Terrifier 3 since it was the move just began omg way more entertaining and fun
