The Million Dollar Hotel Reviews
The Million Dollar Hotel: A Diamond in the Rough, Marred by Critics' Ego Wim Wenders' 2000 film, The Million Dollar Hotel, is a mesmerizing tale of eccentricity and humanity, set against the backdrop of a dilapidated Los Angeles hotel. Despite its flaws, the film shines with a quirky charm, thanks to standout performances from Jeremy Davies and Milla Jovovich. Unfortunately, the film's unique beauty was lost on many critics, who chose to indulge in pompous grandstanding rather than genuine analysis. Their scathing reviews reeked of elitism, as they savaged the film's unconventional narrative and stylistic choices. In reality, The Million Dollar Hotel is a captivating, if imperfect, gem that defies easy categorization. It's a film that rewards patience and open-mindedness, offering a rich tapestry of characters and themes. Rating: 3 half /5 Recommendation: Ignore the naysayers and experience The Million Dollar Hotel for yourself. Its offbeat charm may just win you over.
I’m sure there must be more people like me. I absolutely love this movie. I believe it’s one of the best love stories ever written. It saddens me that people can’t grasp the beauty of the pure love despite the cruelty of the world. Just enjoy the beautiful dream… 🥰
This is possibly the worst Mel Gibson film that you will see and I'll be happy if I never have to watch this film again.....its that bad.
An old inner city hotel full of loveable oddballs is the scene of a murder mystery whose detective is equally odd, but the script, the director, and the talented actors pull it off.
Pure crap. Has all the excitement of cow dung hardening on an overcast day. Too weird
The greatest 02 hours: and 02 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is so slow it is hard to care about anything else.
Strangely enough, it's one of my favorites. Two of the others are The Lion in Winter (the one with Hepburn and O'Toole), and Dogma, which I straight up loved!
One of the best movies by Wim Wenders. Beautiful atmosphere, great acting, a little bit artificial, phantastic soundtrack.
The performances are simultaneously amazing and annoying, the sets are simultaneously impressive and gross, but in the end I just didn't care much about anything or anyone in this degenerate loony bin. I welcomed the crazy conclusion so that it could be over.
Uh, oh. I wondered if perhaps I had just been in a bad mood when I saw this film back in 2000. But I wasn't. This film is just bad. Why Mr. Wenders? Why?
Slightly baffled by the low ratings on this one. I thought it was a charming movie about some fascinating oddballs. Really, really not a mystery so much as a peaceful comedy, and drama. Wenders points the camera at real life, yet somehow shows the brilliance in it.
An inhabitant of a discrepant majestic hotel, home to many mentally disabled and harmless people, follows a clownish detective's investigation of the death of one of the occupants. Quite possibly one of the worst films by Wim Wenders, whose film is so badly balanced that it even seems tasteless. It's a shame, because as far as the premise is concerned, Million Dollar Hotel feels as if it could have been a different and infinitely more satisfying movie.
A true look into the mind of a social outsider, and a confession heard around the world. Jeremy Davies made this movie
