Mouth to Mouth Reviews
more interesting once you find out that the director herself ran away from her home in Canada all the way to London when she was fifteen, but that doesn't change the fact that this film is significantly flawed. This works as a good vehicle for a young Ellen Page, but it just never drew me into what should be a very interesting story of a young girl experiencing the world with a group in a similar state as she is in. The film also builds up to something happening at the end to resolve everything, however, this never happens, and the conclusion left me completely unsatisfied. Worth a watch if you are a fan of Ellen Page, but other than that, this is not a movie that I would necessarily recommend.
The grim truth about how vulnerable people can be....and then how manipulated and abused they can become....
This was just plain weird. There are scenes where the characters engage in interpretive dance with one another that just didn't sit right with me. It was an interesting angle on cult communities but failed to hit the mark for me. My main issue is that I just didn't care one ounce for any of the characters so as they got sucked further and further into the cult it really didn't impact on me as the audience.
Early Ellen Page but not one that you would want to remember her for. A cult movie that doesn't work.
Pretty decent movie about ''SPARK'' A collection of street people. It's interesting, and entertaining. I think it's actually Ellen Page's best film in my opinion. It has a of tension in it, and I thought it was generally pretty good.
An amazing candian film with one of Ellen Pages first performances. Shes bald most of the time here.
For the most part, this flick is a surreal and tragic adventure about a young runaway girl who is taken in by a group of fun loving street punks that slowly transforms itself into a cult. There were turns here I felt the story should have taken, but didn't, which left the film incomplete. However, this is definitely worth watching for an early performance by Ellen Page.
Wow Ellen Page was amazing in this film! I didn't know quite what to expect from this film and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how good this film was. This film has a very gritty and real feel to. The manipulation of the characters starts out so subltely yet by the end of the movie is so in your face. There is a good supporting cast for this film but it was Ellen Page who blew me away with her performance!
Enjoyed this film a lot, especially the relationship between Ellen's character Sherry and Mad Ax. Definitly worth a watch!
Good movie about the brainwashing nature of any kind of cult or group of collective thinkers. Absolute power always corrupts, and it shows how easily a person in a position of power can manipulate the followers into things even they thought they were incapable of. Like the Milgram Experiment. Also, Ax was an awesome character. I'd like to see a movie with him in the lead role, like a prequel showing how he got where he was.
This movie improves after a very slow start and Ellen Page gives a good performance. The plot involves Page's character joining a cult. The plot takes to long to get going and the ending feels incomplete. Most of the supporting characters are not interesting. I can't quite recommend this film.
The devilishly talented Ellen Page in another challening, confronting role. A teen runaway joins up with some oddball homeless types /drifters/other runaways, who later turn out to be some sort of cult. Fascinating film that pulls no punches. Don't watch it if you want to have a good time. I guess you would call it social-realism or some such, but I'm not a film critic, so I could be wrong.
I love early part of this movie. Ellen Page's Sherry just sucks you in. Its visually okay but her performance is great. Ellen has the ability to transform into who ever she's portraying. As far as the imagery goes - its very transitional and coherent with the plot.
Very odd. Interesting concept.. But it's been done before. Always lovely to see Ellen Page, though. I thought she was quite good in this role.
