When I went into this movie when it first came out, I was hyped to see a live action Mushu. You know what I get? A movie where over half of the characters shown weren't even in the original. Of all the live actions I've watched, I think this and Snow White are the worst. I can't forgive it for doing this. Not bingeable. We hate Disney for this.

I didn¡¯t enjoy it, as it was nothing like the comedic, musical original that I grew up with.

Aside from political views, this is an outstanding movie. Many who don¡¯t like this movie state that the whole point of the original Mulan was her training to get strong enough to become a warrior vs her already having a ¡°superpower¡±. Although I do agree that she started with an advantage, I do not agree with the whole point of Mulan which I believe is her getting the respect she deserves as a strong woman. This may not be because of her training in the live action, but this is her being strong and confident enough to not be bounded by the way those believe a women should be and that is what I respect in this movie.

I genuinely enjoyed Mulan (2020) for its fresh and grounded take on the classic tale. One of the things I appreciated most was the decision to leave out the musical numbers. It allowed the action and emotion to take center stage, which made the story feel more intense and immersive. Crystal Liu was captivating in the role of Mulan¡ªnot only is she stunning on screen, but her action scenes were incredibly well done. Her physical performance brought a strength and grace to the character that made it easy to root for her throughout the film. Another standout element was the emphasis on honor and the deep connection to family values. It¡¯s a theme that resonated strongly and added weight to Mulan¡¯s journey beyond just the battlefield. While there were a few moments that leaned into stereotypes, overall, the film delivered a visually beautiful and emotionally satisfying experience. For fans of action and strong female leads, this version of Mulan is definitely worth the watch.

ok, it was good but it was missing a lot of parts from the original that made it iconic, like Mulan cutting all her hair off, the little dragon and cricket. the girl who played Mulan was super pretty and served the role though!?

Took me ages to finally sit down and watch this, and honestly? It¡¯s alright¡ªjust about passable. Like, yeah, it¡¯s epic and all, a proper big film, but it just didn¡¯t hit the highs and lows I remember the cartoon smashing out of the park back in the day. Look, I¡¯m a massive martial arts film fan, and I couldn¡¯t help but feel like the action stars they brought in were totally underutilised. It¡¯s like having all these top-tier tools and barely using them! And don¡¯t get me started on Liu. She looks amazing, no doubt, but nah, not the right pick for this role. Call me old-school, but seriously, Disney? You couldn¡¯t find an actress who can actually fight? Proper missed opportunity there. Jason Scott Lee, though? Loved seeing him¡ªman¡¯s a legend. All in all, it¡¯s a touch better than I was expecting, but only just. Honestly, glad I stayed home and watched it instead of forking out for a cinema ticket.

The whole movie sequence was good but there were a lot of key characters missing and it made the movie not too good. The movie would be better if all of the characters were in the movie.

(spoiler) The film shouldn't have been shot where there are concentration camps and I don't know why Mulan is a superhero.

It's like that wanted to tell a new story but wanted to shoe horn in an ip they owned . Not even to mention, NO songs, and NO side kicks like mushu and the cricket where hafe the charm from the original. And the songs where some of there best

This is Trash. 1998's Mulan is about female empowerment, about learning to find yourself. This Mulan movie gives the message that You are good for nothing if you are not born with a gift.Part of the witch has bothered me quite a bit because In Womens hero movies There always has to be a villain who is a woman To balance gender equality Equality means that a woman can fight against men And not because you were born with a gift that makes you In the best of warriors

This must have been what the writer's were thinking: 1: What's the best possible way to pay homage to the original film and do it justice while still updating it enough to justify a live-action remake? 2: I know! Let's make Mulan an expert combatant from the first second of the film. That way we won't have to worry about any of that tiresome character development or portray anything less than a 'Strong Woman'. 1: But how do we explain her being so powerful? People have to train to become experts, yet she seems to be all-powerful from the beginning of the film. 2: Ah, that's where Chi comes in! Y'know how the Force is an awesome aspect of the SW franchise that magically makes people super powerful? Let's do that but repurpose Chi to be that super energy that makes Mulan an expert from childhood! 1: Ok....but how will she have a compelling story then? The antagonists in the original film didn't have to worry about a super-powered Chinese woman killing them outright. 2: Those villains are now empowered by a witch that we can just insert into the story for no reason! It's amazing! She'll take over China with the help of Rouran (Mongolian) warriors. That will be a challenge for Mulan. 1: But how will Mulan beat the witch? The witch has literal magic on her side. 2: Oh, don't worry about that. I've got an awesome plot twist for you...the witch SACRIFICES herself to stop Mulan from being killed by the Rouran warriors! 1: ...What? Why would she do that? She was the antagonist of the film, right? 2: Yep, she was. But she empathised with Mulan in her struggles because she was also shunned by her society. 1: Are we even writing a script for a Mulan film anymore?

Ok, I have to first say, that I have to admit, that when I first read about this live-action remake of a classic Disney animated movie, without having the talking dragon and all of that. I didn't have high hopes for the movie. BUT, with that said, I have to give the writer's their props, for doing a great job with the homage of the animated movie characters, with turning cricket into a real person, instead of just a bug, and the artistry of the Phoenix has been greatly done well. I still have to say, that the only thing that I would have done is, at least paid homage to Mushu the dragon, with a drawing, for something like, a village symbol, or something along those line's. And, bringing in the original voice actress in the film(Sorry, not going to give up when and where in the movie), was a great idea, as well. And, I am not a big fan of remakes, as I am able to count every single one of those that I like, with 1 hand, and I have watched a lot of movies, over the past 47 year's of my life. But, with it being more like the true tale of the legendary person, with the innuendo's in the movie to the original animation, is a great blending of the 2 stories. So, I wanted to give credit, where credit is due. And, I have to say, if you are partial to the animated version, don't worry about this live-action remake of it, as they both are great movies...

I read the other reviews for fun and was shocked to find no one talked about how bad the sound was for this film. This was the least immersive cinema experience ever. That is just the cherry on top of all the other negative reviews, which I agree with... I say give it a watch and see if you find differently.
