Jordan Mintzer The Hollywood Reporter Kang Je-kyu's big-budgeted WWII melodrama offers up a kitschy, overtly violent tale about two rival marathon runners caught in a continent-hopping battle of blood, guts and bad dialogue. Mar 13, 2015 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times [Director Kang Je-kyu] engineers one long pummel session of elaborate CGI effects, shaky battle cinematography and trial-by-fire heroics, but the nonstop adversity lacks any real sense of danger. Or, for that matter, emotional punch. Mar 13, 2015 Full Review

Magnus A This is an epic, overshadowed by movies released about the same time. Violent, brutal even gory. War is a meatgrinder. Maybe this resonates more now when North Korean troops are being used in the same callous way in Kursk. The acting is committed, the filming has pace and at times is relentless. The main characters are thrown into situations, these are not agents, they decide little for themselves, sometimes heroic, mostly victims struggling to survive. Some of the pro criticism seems odd - like questioning the script? I'm watching English subtitles, was that critic knocking the film for poor subtitles? Get a grip! My Way is a compelling relentless epic - worth watching! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/25 Full Review The Maximum G I honestly don't understand the "top critics" who dislike this movie? It tells the story mainly of a Korean man who, under Japanese rule, is conscripted into the Japanese army and serves in the Japanese army at Khalkhin Gol against the Soviet Unions, as a Soviet Penal legion against the Germans at Kharkov, and D-Day against the allies as part of the German Ost Battalion. The movie is highly inspired by Yang Kyoungjong and the story he told the Americans who captured him at D-Day. It's an amazing film and I love rewatching it. And to the critics who say its 'violent', look at the WAR they are fighting in. the movie is 'too long'?, HE SERVES IN 3 ARMIES PLUS BACKSTORY. This movie is amazing and always will be Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/22/24 Full Review
