A group of American soldiers need to get an elephant to a remote town during the Vietnam War. This movie has heart. It starts a little slow, but picks up after they find the elephant as character development and plot start moving forward. There were five soldiers in the main group. The ones played by Danny Clover and Denis Leary were well acted and I enjoyed. Doug E. Doug got in a few good lines, but he wasn’t given much to do. Corin Nemec was just there. He had few lines and I wondered why they even put his character into the movie. Maybe he had some scenes that were cut for time, but the movie is only about an hour and a half. Finally Ray Liotta’s character was the lead character and I didn’t connect with him at all. I did enjoy the relationship that the soldiers developed with the kid that was the elephant’s trainer. That is the real heart of this movie. The special effects had a lot of very noticeable green screens that didn't hold up, but I think this movie is worth a watch.

The least funny 01 hour: and 47 minutes ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A bland family comedy that has some okay acting and amusing moments but is a bit boring, has a peculiar backdrop that doesn't really strike me as a good introduction to talking to your children about the Vietnam War, boasts groan-worthy dialogue and the attempts to deal with themes of war and animal welfare clash with the goofy antics that involve shoving a hand up an elephant's ass, among other things. At least it's well-shot. But I wouldn't recommend this as "Baby's First "Apocalypse Now"".

Bem bonitinho, pensei ter relação com o Dumbo, mas foi só um título oportunista, aquela mesma linha Disney, americanos heróis e fofinhos (ou não)que salvam o mundo de todo vilania existente… Mas sequestram um elefantinho de seu ‘habitat', para colocar no lugar de um que eles "ajudaram" a matar… O menininho rouba as cenas, e a lenda em torno do elefante é bem bonitinha… E no final, a informação de ser baseada em uma história real, do major Jim Morri para me deixar ainda mais derretida...

This Disney movie was pretty good. Danny Glover, Ray Liotta, Denis Leary, Doug E. Doug, Corin Nemec, and the rest of the cast did a good job in this movie. This true story was entertaining and dramatic. It's about keeping a promise and doing what is right for the good of the people. If you haven't seen this movie yet, you may enjoy it. That's what I think anyway.

I don't think it's anything absolutely bad, but 'Operation Dumbo Drop' is pretty lacklustre and a bit slow to sit through. I do like the cast. Danny Glover (Cahill) and Ray Liotta (Doyle) are solid together, while Denis Leary (Poole) and Doug E. Doug (Ashford) may not give anything memorable but both are alright; as is Dinh Thien Le (Linh). Also interesting to see Raymond Cruz appear, in his early years pre-Tuco. It seems the trio of Glover, Liotta and Leary really don't rate this, given the latter's comments in later years about it; though it sounds like that's more to do with the filming process, rather than the end product. I more than likely wont be revisiting this any time soon, but I don't hate it or anything.

The script is uneven but Denis Leary is a lot of fun.

Don't know why this has bad reviews, I enjoyed it.

Operation Dumbo Drop (1995) I like how the aircraft and Vietnam look in this film. I like the comedy and how the cultures are represented in this film. I love the opening with the helicopter scene in 1968. It was pretty impressive. I think this film did a great job on making Thailand to look like Vietnam. I like the city chance in this film. I like how the US military is represented in this film.

This movie has a lot of mixed reviews(most/some are on the lower scoring of stars). This movie is on sometimes and if it is I'll watch, I didn't think this was a bad movie as some might say. Disney took a shot in the dark with this movie based on a true story, 90's movie I will say that the little boy in the film the elephants child(handler) is really annoying he fights and yells at the people who are going to drop the elephant, he is over protective of it alright movie to watch.

The best war movie of the 1990’s. See Operation Dumbo Drop but bring Kleenex.

As a kid, it wasn't the Vietnam war or the Green Beret that got my attention. It was an elephant.

You Know this film is bad when the actors(Liota,Glover and Leary) All admit they only did it for the money

Not the best of Disney family films, but entertaining enough to watch once. The usual formula of kid and animal in danger helped by well wishing adults.

I can't for the life of me figure out what the plot of this movie was. Why did they have to drop that elephant? Must not have left much of an impression.
