Our Brand Is Crisis Reviews
Alas, the film appears as if it has much to say, but doesn't end up saying much at all. Instead, it becomes a neutered vehicle for Bullock.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Apr 25, 2022
As well as being a phenomenal actress, Bullock has a natural gift for comedy and the two come together in harmony.

A thought provoking piece that may make you think twice the next time you vote.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 4, 2021
Green's Our Brand is Crisis betrays relatively little concern for what actually happened in 2002-03.

Bullock and Thornton are so good here that you like the film and its mostly unlikable characters anyway.

I don't think the story needed to be told.

It felt old.

But for my taste, it's just too damn ... ahem ... problematic.

The film walks the rapier line of satire, sarcasm and commentary, finding that sweet spot perfect balance of emotion and story. Political commentary is succinct and spot on.

It would have been nice to have some fresh insight into what goes on behind the scenes during an election campaign. This crisis does not convert into an opportunity.
| Aug 15, 2019
Although the conclusion all but abandons the goals the film sets out to achieve, Our Brand Is Crisis is a smart, timely satire that addresses the state of politics today with a healthy mix of criticism and comedy.
| Original Score: B | May 9, 2019
Our Brand is Crisis is ultimately an average politically-charged film, one that had far more potential than what is seen onscreen. Good performances all around don't overcome some of the film's issues, but still make for an interesting watch.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Apr 10, 2019
As a good humoured drama, with the laughs peaking at a choice use of Sandra's buttocks, this is light yet entertaining.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Apr 9, 2019
It's a film that can't decide whether it wants to twist the knife of political satire or get on the soap box with a profound statement about the system of political campaigns.

The Bolivians are the great unwashed, their struggles only important inasmuch as they provide Jane the opportunity to spout bromides like a random quote generator. Politics is a dirty game, not for the meek or idealistic. Yeah, we know.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Dec 10, 2018
Our Brand is Crisis is worth seeing. Bullock, Thornton, Mackie, Dowd, Almeida, Arcella, Scoot McNairy and more are all entirely on target.

You'll see not only politics in a different light, but all marketing and advertising in a different way. And that's a good thing.
| Original Score: 3.5/4 | Aug 22, 2018
...a solid little drama that boasts an impressive assortment of positive attributes.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Apr 3, 2018
There's no bite in this flick to make this cynicism sting
| Original Score: 2/5 | Dec 4, 2017
As a film about a woman embarking on the path of self-discovery, caught between marketing and the media, the film works. As a tale on political one-upmanship, it doesn't.
