Bad movie with bad cast, bad acting, bad writing, bad music, bad actions, bad story and bad actors.

Nice to Anikin :-)! Compared to 2023 movies, there's much to like!

It was actually pretty fun despite what the critics ( and the majority of the audience ) makes you think.

I enjoyed the sword fighting and Cages over-acting was sublime.

Absolutely ridiculous, and surely Nicholas Cage only did it for the money. 12th century crusaders desert the Holy Land, and end up in China. Which would be, what, 5000 kms? Not only do they speak the language, but they even know where to go, and the short cuts to get there. One is an opium addict and paralytic drunk, but can still defeat dozens of Chinese Imperial guards. And Nick Cage is an over-acting, and over-bearing, boor, with a dreadful pseudo Welsh accent. Still, love develops, the peasants rally to their cause, hundreds are killed in sword fights, buzz, buzz…ho hum….sorry, where was I? Can't tell you about the end because I switched over to a replay of "I Love Lucy."

Firing Nicolas Cage would have improved this movie significantly, and replacing him with the inflatable autopilot from Airplane would have improved the average acting quality by 65%. OMFG Cage should have been forced to refund his fee for this film. Christianson was only slightly better, and the accent coach for this film should be drawn and quartered, if there even was one. I've heard better accents in school plays. And seen better acting.

one of the stupidest movies I've seen in a long while. White Saviour Douchebag comes to the rescue of little chinese people. Opium addict in the 12th century even though opium addiction wasn't a deal until the Europeans made it so in the 18th and 19th century. This movie is racist and vile. Positively, it's fairly well shot. But holy moly, it's full of BS. like how one of the characters is hit with TWO arrows (shoulder and thigh) and some how THREE DAYS LATER he's up and around. This movie (written by a white dude) is a dreadful piece of crap and is the reason why people hate Hollywood movies. I want my hour and a half back.

Nic Cage aficionados will appreciate this film. Also includes a strong showing from Hayden Christiansen. Only shortcoming of the film is that Nic Cage could have used more screen time.

I wish I could put this in the Cage-led, wild-eyed fun bin, but they've somehow managed to stifle and sideline Cage in favor of Christensen, who though he didn't have his feet under him during Star Wars, still hasn't managed to find them. The list goes on - the historical inaccuracies, the character inconsistencies, the bizarre story, the acting... sadly, Cage has a poorly-understood role early in the film followed up by an extremely predictable reappearance where he's forced to deliver line after line of exposition to make sense of getting from there to here. He inexplicably uses this combination accent that is out of place in both the Crusades and rural China, barks his lines like a high school drama student struggling to be heard and laughably communicates with his mute wife as if talking to himself. Those sound like the essential elements of a Cage masterpiece, but he gets so little screentime (which is so dedicated to propping up Christensen's story anyway) that it robs the film of its only potential savior. Honestly, the action is tight. It's well-shot, bloody, consistent, well-paced and weighty. The bones of the film are just too weird to overlook - a cast of hugely different-looking Asian actors all meant to be one Chinese family without a consistent accent between them, the fact that they keep calling the Emperor "king," Christensen's superhuman ability to fight hordes of enemies while only seconds before was visibly and audibly befuddled by opium, the underexplained but apparently critical undertone of religious redemption and the exceptionally poor writing make parts of this a chore to watch. It almost seems like someone took the "wrong heir, father-killing" part of Gladiator, Christensen's costume from Star Wars and a dash of Cage just for good measure and threw it at China because it was cheaper to make it there. There's entertainment in the action here, but not much else.

Very good movie with great fights. And a great performance by criminally underrated Hayden Christensen

Beautiful movie and good movie

It was tough to watch the Templars and Chinese royalty reduced to caricatures of themselves. The ‘british' accents were an interesting artistic choice.

The whole movie is pretty bad with the acting and especially with the 'holier than though' portrayal that Hayden Christian attempts and doesn't surpass with unfortunately. The most laughable and ridiculous is his hair style. It no where reflects the era and seems like he's just come from a hipster barber shop. Perfectly gelled and slicked back. Somewhat cleanly and newly shaved. It makes no sense to the era and lifestyle he isnportrayiny?! Nicolas cages' over acting adds more humour to the film. I don't quite understand how they got such well rounded and obviously famous actors to play in this movie. It feels so B grade. The whole thing feels pretty lame and a bit cringe but I guess if you're into Chinese folklore and historic type action/drama/thrillers and pretty non judgemental you might like it.

I have given this move a half-star sheerly out of my enjoyment I obtained through how dreadful and shitty it is. It truly is a candidate for a least competent movie with a budget of all time. Whoever made this film sjhould retire and not return.

I fell asleep during the movie. That's how horrendous it was. One of the worst and most boring films I have ever watched in my life. Christensen and Cage both gave terrible performances and their accents were so terrible. I only made it to watching 31 minutes of the movie, then I luckily decided to stop watching it after that. Rating: 0.7/10

Dull and cliched. And not enough Nic Cage. He doesn’t really chew the scenery until the final half hour.

I don't get the hate for this movie. it is enjoyable, and NOT AS BAD AS EVERYONE SAYS.

Overall, it's your typical low budget action flick with some actually great fight scenes. I personally think Hayden Christianson's acting is improving and aside from the goddawful accent, he did really well in this role of a tortured war veteran seeking comfort in all the wrong places. Not to mention SHIRTLESS SCENE! Gotta give the man that much at least: He's got some abs! ??
