Pitch Perfect 2 Reviews
Elizabeth Banks takes the director's chair this time around and brings forth a worthy sequel to 2012's aca-amazing hit a decade later it may not match the success of the original but it has plenty to offer on its own I was shockingly laughing so much harder this time around more than the first film and it only added to the fun of it all this time the Bardon Bellas are on their A-game but an embarassing performance gone wrong gets them revoked of their title so they are left with barely anything resembling what they love doing there's a chance though for them to make it back on top when they decide to compete in a global acapella championship against bigger and better groups Becca also goes on her own to produce her own music and thinking about what will go away after graduation I liked the new players including Hailee Steinfeld being the daughter of a former Bella wanting to be her own and not just a mother's successor even though she arrives at a bad time in the Bellas' lives the acapella songs here are way more inducing and toe-tapping and there's so many crazy cameos! theres even an additional romantic subplot that humorously works its way in the pitch is back indeed as are the laughs and zaniness :)
An amazing sequel! The first half was a bit meh, but I loved the second half. Fat Amy is an icon and carries these movies. Her solo scene is gold. I prefer the first one, but the humor is better in this one.
Good sound design and plenty of celebrity cameos to keep it fun. Decent story and mediocre humor, but entertaining all the same.
“We're Back, Pitches.” Hailee Steinfeld joining the cast was *chefs kiss*. My favorite song is flashlight. 5/5 stars.
Some fun a-ca suprises await you nerds. Better than the first movie...debatable? Just as fun...heck yeah!
My favorite movie! Such amazing talent and songs! Awesome plot and great characters! YOU MUST WATCH
hailee carried and i kinda ship emily/chloe in this one ajshdfbvgwyhdfbvgh
Liked the story, giving the story an int'l spin with Das Sound Machine was great. Love the original cast but Hailee Steinfeld was very unfunny and her lines landed so flat sort of sucked the fun out of scenes with her in it. Chrissie Fit's role was not funny and pretty questionable. Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins are perfection together.
Takes a long time to get to the point, and basically a little bit too drawn out but other than that part it's relatively pretty decent and fun to watch the first one is obviously still better though
i LOVE this movie-great music and funny
Not as good as the first but overall solid movie. The ban reason was lame - played it out too far but the rest of the movie was good.
Ridicula, con un humor muy extraño y una historia menos interesante eso es pitch perfect 2 para mí, así que porfavor no la vean jamas
Tries to capture what made the first movie work but in the end it comes across as a poorly conceived, forced effort that falls flat.
It has problems but it does what a sequel is supposed to do well in the end. The biggest problem is the editing is just ok. I can tell you what this about but I can't tell you who the main character is like the first. So it definitely feel unfocused especially in the middle as we jump around between the girls stories, but it can't quite figure out how to weave it into one cohesive story. This gives it at times a bit of a bloated feel. The music and cinematography is solid. Everything is well shot, pops, and is well sung but I wouldn't say it does anything different or better than the first did overall. The acting is solid also and while the pacing does start to slide a bit in the second half the ending is really good and kind of saves it overall. The German group feels unneeded and should've just been about the group being their own worst enemy. Also some new characters besides Emily would've probably helped tell a more cohesive story as well. The only other complaint is they doubled down on the edginess of the jokes and it really becomes super hit or miss and should've have been doubled down. It still does a solid job of what a sequel should do. Anyone who is a fan of any actors in this, musicals, or the franchise will like this. This could've been as good as the first if it had more focus, dialed back on the edgy humor, and added a few more new characters to the mix.
Nearly all of the original cast are back, giving it the same amount of skill into their acting. Less comedic I must add, however it does keep its charm. Hailee stenifeild joins the movie and gains everybody's hearts and I genuinely enjoy this movie
Excellent sequel. Very funny, enjoyable ride. If you liked the first this wont disappoint.
Coming off the first Pitch Perfect, I was expecting more of this sequel. While the music was still solid and there was a standout moment or two (Flashlight), for the most part this was a subpar sequel. Everything about Pitch Perfect 2 was a weak copy/paste: Treblemakers > Das Sound Machine Poolside Riff-Off > Rich Guy Riff-Off Beca & Jesse > Amy & Bumper The film was entertaining enough to merit a re-watch, but there simply was not as much charm as the first film (mostly due to the lack of Jesse).
Pitch Perfect 2 has its moments, but has substantially dropped down a notch compared to the success of its original. The plot was presumably familiar and the narrative was generally dependent on humour which lacked disappointingly.
Just don't expect that this would be good as the first one.
It still offers some good laughs but is wildly less than its predecessor in every way.
