Play the Game Reviews
The trailer was awful, but the saving grace is this movie was actually decent. Underrated, cute, funny, and good time can all be used to describe this movie.
Don't pay no attention to the "critics" review. This show is just so funny and so relatable. Sad reading the nonsense reviews. It's about as true to life as you can get. Hey critic reviewers - take the starch out of your collars and enjoy life.
Amateurishly made and poorly written, Play the Game puts lovable Andy Griffith in an awkward and somewhat raunchy role that is totally out of his element.
The only movie I've ever seen where lovable senile Andy Griffith gets a sloppy BJ from the woman who played Jerry Seinfeld's mom. What a way to open a review huh? Well the movie itself is a charming low budget romantic comedy with some familiar faces like Doris Roberts from Everyone Loves Raymond,Clint Howard, and Marla Sokoloff from the Practice. The movie stars Paul Campbell who's a "ladies man" who constantly plays women untill he finds a girl he can't resist, meanwhile his grandfather is having his own relationship problems or aka. he can't get a piece. So he asks his grandson to help get him laid, and to his own surprise it works. The rest is just awkward comedy gold. This movie was funny in the most odd yet endearing way and even the creepy old people sex scenes make for great comedy. I wanted to punch the leading guy and thought he was the biggest douche ever, but Andy Griffith really saved this movie along with Doris Roberts. If you want an awkward but cute romantic comedy to watch with your girlfriend or an open minded grandparent...Play the game is the creepy old people sex comedy for you.
It's a very funny film that doesn't aim too high and is filled with laughs.Griffith is the film's heart,as its mostly his lines that will have you laughing;but it's still a nice film that pleases the crowd.
While a lot of the movie is "cute", It is severely lacking in real substance. Frankly, for the most part Andy Griffith stole the show. However, I did strongly object to his participation in sex scenes. Somehow, hearing Andy Griffith talk about having erections and using Viagra shatters his wholesome image. Overall, the film is very forgettable. It is sad that such a legend went out on a muted note.
A very low budget film that didn't bring in much money. But best romantic comedy I have ever seen. You must see this movie.
